We were visiting in Gravenhurst and had heard about the wonderful butter tarts at Marty's. We drove to Bracebridge, paid for parking at the meter, only to discover that most stores were closed on Mondays. However, there was no sign in the window indicating such. So we thought we would come back on Tuesday. Tuesday about 2:00 p.m., we headed... More

"World famous" buttertarts are overly sweet, lousy pastry, the size of a small pie & the price of a mortgage!

Several years ago, we were in Bracebridge and stopped for coffee and desert. Three of us shared a slice of apple pie and a butter tart (though the crust in both cases was thicker than I like) - they were simply amazing. The apple pie was really "mile high" and the butter tart was sinfully gooey. Yes, the service was... More

I lived in Bracebridge for a large part of my life- Marty's is not what you think! I read that the staff are grumpy- that's because they are treated badly. I have witnessed the owner being rude to them often. After I took a friend from out of town for lunch- I only went back for the tarts and coffee.... More

Not the greatest flavours, cash only and everything is overpriced! The butter tarts suck and they cost waaaaay too much!

This was the first 'restaurant' we visited during our stay near Bracebridge and it really is a rip off. The prices are rediculous and the food only very average. It's dirty and the staff are rude. There are lots of much better restaurants in town - so don't waste your time and money on this one. When we got back... More

This place was small, and had a lot of flies. They were also sold out of several items like veggie sandwiches ( once they are sold out they won't make more). The staff was rude- aloof and kind of seemed to make fun of us. The butter-tarts were good, but it we'd $50 for a dozen. That's insane! They were... More

Had lunch at Marty's August 18th and do not have a good thing to say. It has been awhile since visiting Marty's and what a disappointment. We had Greek Salad -- which was ok - but the portion was incredibly small for the 10.00 cost -- the table was dirty and we had to clean it ourselves before we could... More

Marty's is famous for the rude service, fly infestation and insane prices but this did not stop me from reaching into my wallet to pay $9.61 for two wonderful butter tarts. While the pastry is thicker than I would prefer, the tarts are scrumptious. I recommend Marty's tarts yes but please bring your sense of humour for the attitude your... More

We made a trip off highway to pick up some tarts since we've had them once before. There were two employees working on Saturday morning of civic long weekend. I ordered a dozen tarts and was informed it was a cash only establishment. I went down the road to get 25$ for the dozen tarts. Upon returning 5 minutes later... More
