I selected this restaurant for my birthday dinner with my family (2 adult children and their partners so 6 in total). Made reservations online through Open Table and it couldn't have been easier. I received email confirmation that I could forward to the kids. I received email reminder a few days before the event. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food... More

We were visiting Kitchener and chose Borealis based on TA reviews - it was a great choice! I really don't understand why people find this place overpriced - we felt it was great value for what we got. The server (Genevieve) was very knowledgeable and friendly, without being annoying. She had lots of good information on both the food and... More

Like many other reviewers have said - best to try this place with a gift card or when they run special events like 'two can dine for' Wednesdays. I did not know they had a downstairs private room until now. It was perfect for our gathering of friends: you could actually hear yourselves talk (unlike the great open hall of... More

Hello KevmeisterTTK, Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. I'm happy that you had a great experience in our private wine cellar. Just to let you know, we have done some renovations as well to the upper level schoolhouse. We have been receiving some incredible feedback in regards to the atmosphere up there, specifically how the noise has... More

The flavours were great, textures excellent, and knowing that the food was local gives confidence in the quality of the food. There's a large selection of regional beers and wines as well. Worth the price, good service and friendly staff too.

I've been to Borealis a few times - but only because I got a gift card I intended not to waste. The food is quite expensive - particularly as it is all supposed to be local and not imported from exotic locations like Luxembourg, Tibet, or Mars. Weighing the price against the quality, it is positively outrageous. The salads are... More

Hello, I'm sorry that your visit in October had you feeling that you didn't receive value. I have passed along your comments about the overcooked burger to our culinary team, and apologize for that mistake. It should have never happened. When it comes to being overpriced,I have to disagree with you. We are proud of the ingredients that we buy,... More

It's nailed the locavore aspect-but the food is extremely dull. I've been here at least 10 times over the last several years and have been less impressed each time. Nothing is bad...but nothing is exciting. The restaurant has managed to source some truly wonderful local ingredients, but, perhaps in the attempt to treat them respectfully, falls on the side of... $30 ribeye steak was 1/2 chewy fat, very disappointing. Sauce was good, Caesar salad,, fFrench onion soup was good. Wine was overpriced . Service was Just ok. Didn't want to go back a second time. Will definitely not go a third.

Good day, I am sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your experience with us. I have passed along your comments to our culinary team about how we butcher our rib eye to ensure that this rather fatty cut of beef is as lean as possible. We had dinner there last week and while the fish and chips was amazing, the chicken tacos was just ok. The food was very good and the service was really nice and friendly. Overall pretty decent value for money as well.
