A hidden gem

Its about time I wrote a review for one of my favourite restaurants near to my home. Explorers is more than dinner out, it is an experience. The staff treat everyone as a friend. The chef knows his trade and the owners, Rob and Jen, are most likely to greet you at some point. The food is not your... read more

For our 39th wedding anniversary we selected Explorer Cafe and after checking their menu online we were really looking forward to our visit... Reservations made we arrived and were seated promptly. Server appeared courteous and then it all started to go south. We ordered wine from the menu and were told it was a new menu item which they weren't... More

Five star food and wine at a very reasonable price! We enjoyed the local wine, recommend 2012 year reds, the prosciutto wrapped and charred trout in a lemon butter sauce, and the duck (in a heavenly cranberry topping). Very professional and friendly service. Although we were in our boating attire we were treated like dressed in cocktail attire! Lovely atmosphere... More

My wife and I had an excellent meal here for our anniversary. Searched out and found a couple reviews recommending this place. A little hard to see off the main drag but worth it. We went for beers but their wine selection is a little overwhelming. Had the soup of the day which was black bean, Chipotle and chocolate (sounds... More

My husband and I love coming to this restaurant. The service is always gracious, and the food is to die for! I have recommended countless people to this restaurant for its original menu, flavorful dishes. We have attended the restaurant on special occasions, and the staff have always been very courteous and at one time even participated. They made our... More

We were brought here by friends to celebrate my birthday - and what a wonderful time we had. The food was flavourful, fresh and well presented. All the staff were friendly and helpful with answering questions and making suggestions. Definitely will be returning to this restaurant.

We were recommended to this restaurance by the host of our nearby B&B The Charters Inn (see our other review). Our waiter for the evening was clearly intent on impressing us with his love and knowledge of catering. Sorry I didn't get his name but he was very committed to ensuring that we knew what we would be eating and... More

They have really interesting dishes. Their pork potstickers are to die for. This non-chain family run place is a little hidden gem in Midland.

Sadly misnamed. This is no café! Rather, it's an overpriced copy of what pretends to be a fine dining establishment. The food is adequate but not spectacular. It is hidden away and hard to find. Service was minimal and done mostly as rote and without a smile or any sense of welcome. Don't waste your time on this one.
