It would be too bold of me to suggest that restaurants like this will save the world one day but the fact that they devote most of the menu to locally inspired dishes with locally sourced ingredients is a big win. Couple that, with excellent, ebullient service (which is just enough of a shade under over the top) in a... More

Explorer's Cafe is a fantastic restaurant. The atmosphere is relaxing yet elegant. The food is wonderful, and the service is exceptional. This is always a FAVOURITE dining experience for us. Thank you.

Friends who live locally, reserved at this gem of a restaurant during my recent visit. It is understandably their favorite restaurant in Midland and is now mine. I love moulles et frites ( mussels with fries) and Explorer's fare did not disappoint. The mussels were fresh and locally sourced and the suce- cream, pernot and coconut was superlative. My friends... More

The food is absolutely fabulous unfortunately it is almost impossible to be in and out in an hour (lunch hour).

We appreciate your feedback and have addressed the timing issue with our staff. It's true, sometimes our food takes longer than expected and we are working on developing a 'quickie' lunch menu for those with limited time. If you choose to visit us again, and are in a hurry, please let your server know immediately so that we can let... More

Nine of us had lunch here at the recommendation of a local friend. The staff were courteous and efficient. The wine list is quite extensive for such a small restaurant. Decor is eclectic . There was lots to choose from and each of us enjoyed our meals.

We came across this hidden gem by accident while vacationing in the Midland area. We were so impressed by the great food and amazing service provided by Rick, that we now make it a point of stopping by every time we are in the area. By far one of the best steaks I've ever had and highly recommend the carpaccio... More

Food was really good however the service was horrible. We never got asked for desserts or more drinks after getting the dessert menu. We were basically ignored.

Not on the main street but a cozy place. Prompt service and well prepared food. I found the portions to be quite large. I had the chef's special of loin pork which was delicious but could have done with half the portion. Reservations recommended.

During our stay in Ontario, while exploring nearby drives around our accommodation, we managed to chance upon one of the best yummy steak I ever ate....so yummy that it will literally melt in your mouth slowly and with your eyes close enjoying each melt WOW! Didn't know that this is a lonely planet featured place till we exited The Explorers... More

We decided to have supper here after reading Trip Advisor reviews, to celebrate our purchase of a boat at a nearby Marina. Our waiter Richard was so enthusiastic and passionate about the menu, and he was so personable, we thought he was the owner! Nice cozy restaurant, small but very interesting menu, great wine list. They bring you warm homebaked... More
