Like most restaurants, the service depends on how busy they are. Last night (Wed), they were very busy so I would rate the service 'average', at best. When things slowed down a bit, staff were more relaxed and friendly so I would love to see what it's like when not as hectic. I was impressed that they had three people... More

Very good food and excellent service. We will certainly be returning. Portion size is very generous. Dessert was not an option since we were all too full.

I read some other reviews about The a Goulash House after entering "best schnitzel in Newmarket" to Google, so my hubby and I decided to check it out. We went for an early dinner, about 5pm on a Wed. evening, and were the only patrons there on arrival (so...not sure what it would be like on a busy weekend). Servers... More

The food was adequate but I had mixed feelings about our visit here. Nothing special to say about the place. The schnitzel was good though!

Was invited to this spot by a friend and was pleasantly surprised. Atmosphere was lovely like sitting on a patio in Europe. Food was deliciously fresh and homemade. Definitely recommend.

Just in from a great evening with friends. The ambiance and decor is warm an welcoming, the service was attentive, genuinely helpful with recommendations but never overbearing. Among the four of us we sampled a variety from the menu and all were impressed. My jaegr schnitzel main course was rich in flavour, served hot and timely and impressed me with... More

Judy was kind enough to accomodate us on such short notice, which provided excellent customer service right off the bat. We were welcomed with a very traditional atmosphere of the restaurants environment, with a live accordian player and traditional Hungarian city-like atmosphere. Our waitress was very friendly and provided quick and responsive service. The food although our family not experienced... More

Went for lunch today with family. Mouth-watering menu and lovely place to dine located in downtown Newmarket. So much to choose from. Settled on the mini platter which was covered a bunch of interesting items. The snitzel was best I've had, smoked bacon, debreziner sausage with roasted potatoes were yummy. Cabbage roles are different than your typical variety and this... More

I wanted to try the Goulash House for a long time so I went here with a friend on a Sunday night. Nice location right on quaint Main Street and nice relaxed restaurant. Had the mixed appetizer and the Jäger schnitzel. Portions were big, but the food lacked in taste. Even the mushroom sauce hardly tasted mushroom. Overall the food... More

My husband and I enjoyed a really nice dinner at The Goulash House on Saturday evening. It is somewhere we have wanted to try for a long time and we are glad we did! The staff there are friendly, their service was fast and the food was delicious. We ordered the Chicken Paprikash and the Jager Snitzel and both were... More
