I sat at the bar, had some beer and poutine and talked to the owner. Pretty fascinating guy, he's also a farrier or some such (horse guy). My canuck friends had been talking up poutine but I hadn't tried it until I got here. OK, it's kind of a big deal. But I couldn't eat it more than once a... More

My wife and I dropped in to JJ's for a quick beer and some pizza. We were pleasantly surprised by the extensive and interesting draft beer selection (I had the Whitewater stout), and thought the pizza was pretty good to. The service was friendly and excellent, and our server wrapped our leftover pizza up for us to take away with... More

Big Red's in Nova Scotia is the best but JJ's Special Pizza is amazing, love the selection of local beers on tap, Whitewater Farmer's Daughter is very good. Reasonably priced. Weird hours though.

We stopped here from out of town. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly! Our must stop in Pembroke!

As a Pembroke native and student who comes back to town once and a while to visit his parents, this is my go to place to grab a bite, enjoy a craft beer, and catch up with friends. The owner is exceptionally friendly and sources many of his ingredients locally. Even the beer is brewed just 20 km away. As... More

We used to eat here a lot years ago but it changed. Thought we'd give it a another try. Well we won't be back. We ordered the fish and chips which was ok but the coleslaw had a weird taste and a small Hawaiian pizza with a garden salad. The pizza was not very good for $16.00 and the salad... More

As a university student, I loved Peterborough for it's small home-owned restaurants with a casual feel and unique menu. I went for dinner last night with my boyfriend and was so impressed that I knew I had to write a review today. Walking in, we were greeted warmly by a man on bar who sat us right away and grabbed... Look, this is want I want a local, casual restaurant: a focused menu with local produce/beef, good selection of micro-beer and good service. Now, it's not foie gras, or caviar, with linen and crystal, but that's not why we go: we find the it comforting and relaxed - just what you want in your "local" place. Try the burgers, pizza,... Menu selection was limited and not impressive. They have taken off all of the "good" items they once had. Ordered the spinach dip. The entire dip was a wierd colour (not a spinach colour) and tasted HORRIBLE. Worst spinach dip I have ever had. We then waited too long for a pizza that wasn't very good. I will not return.
