Very good cooking

Two lovely courses, a nice bottle of wine and very good service? BUT....we were seated in an outdoor space reminiscent of a roadside caff....and the bill was over 200 CAD. The positives: a very enjoyable prawn ceviche, followed by an equally good Rib Eye steak. The bottle of Malbec was good. Maybe... read more

This is the best restaurant I have ever been to. The chef is inspiring, and the food is unbelievable. I could go on and on about how good this restaurant is but you have to eat there to believe it. If they had cooking lessons I would take them because what he does with the food you could never learn... More

Great quick service, amazing food, quality drinks. Shrimp ceviche appetizer, Angus rib eye main. Couldn't get enough! Savoury and mouthwatering, I really enjoyed this cute little nook. Would highly recommend it!

We enjoyed the five star meal at The Trough, the bruschetta was outstanding, roasted chicken came with scallop potatoes, with blue cheese, wonderful! Jerk ribs fell off the bones, creme brûlée , and home made cookies was a great finish to the experience. Service was good.

What more can you ask for when the address is the "Walk of Champions". Richard Fuller the Owner and Master Chef was an Olympic swimmer for Canada and is now a Champion Chef in the Cross Country Ski capital of Canada. Richard's Mom (Cheryl) and Co-Owner is the magnificent Maitre D" and keeps all the operations in the "Trough" going... More

The service was fantastic, and so where the starters. we had the mussels and the bruschetta. The sides that came with the meals where good as well, the potatoes especially. The problem was with the mains themselves. My wife's salmon was a smaller portion, which is to be expected at higher end restaurants, but it was dry and a bit... More

If you are looking for a delightful dining experience in Canmore, make a reservation at The Trough! A block north of the main street, it is a small, quiet place catering to a more high-end dining experience for people looking for a great meal and a slower pace than the usual fare and atmosphere on the main drag. Service was... More

Ate here for our honeymoon. The food and service (Pablo) here were tremendous. Best lamb I've ever tested and my wife's fish was excellent. Dessert was delicious too. We will be back.

After reviewing a number of eating establishments in the Canmore area we decided to head to The Trough to Celebrate our 34 wedding anniversary. And I am happy to report we were not disappointed . Our Waiter Pablo was excellent in assisting us with our meal options and we were not disappointed . We had the Salmon and Rib Dish... More

My wife and I dined here with our two young children (3yr/6yr old) and first off let me say that there is zero items on the menu which would remotely interest a child. That aside, we still left the Trough with conflicting emotions. Our visit was long anticipated and the intimate atmosphere and the courteous, genuine staff did not disappoint.... More
