VERY GOOD EATS

My parents had a fish and chip shop and two of my Dad's uncles also had fish and chip shops. I have also had fish and chips in the Dolphin Café which is located on the fish docks in Peterhead, Scotland. The Dolphin Café is considered to serve the best fish and chips in the UK. So, with my... read more

This restaurant serves some of the best fish and chips in Cornwall.... the only place so far that beats it, is a small casse croute in Perce in the Gaspe (the fish had been caught that morning)

We have been to this restaurant often and have never been disappointed. Our last visit was on a Saturday when the seafood special was on the menu. We had an order of onion rings and the special which was a choice of fried clam strips, lobster soup or clam chowder and one piece each of haddock, cod and halibut and... More

Yes, it's a fish-and-chips place, but it is really nice to have nice fresh fish that is HAND-battered and cooked while you wait. Often in the area, the fish is over fried until there is no flavor or moistness left - not here... the fish is cooked perfectly. The homemade tartar sauce makes the flavors pop perfectly. An added bonus... More

This was our first visit to Ye Olde English Fish & Chip since it re-opened after being partially demolished by some moron driving drunk last fall. I'm happy to say that the fish and chips are still yummy, and the wait-staff still pleasant! I had my usual two-piece halibut and chips and was not disappointed. They do a nice job... More

We had take out from here and it was delicious! The fish wasn't too bready and even though we brought it home, it wasn't soggy. The fries were great.

Fish was very good but fries were hard--overcooked. Upgrades to restaurant was an improvement.Cook and wait staff were very welcoming and efficient. Many "takeouts"were served while we were there. Will return and will complain about the fries if applicable.

This is such a quaint little place. Home-cooked meals and the most delicious pies you've ever tasted. Batter fried fish of all kinds are available and there is always a special of the day, like roast pork dinner or ribs etc. The place is decorated in anything nautical with fish nets adorned with starfish, crabs, fish, etc. You can also... During a difficult time we went to eat after seeing this place in the paper. Looked a little sketchy but the food was amazing. Best chowder I have ever had. Fish was amazing. So much food had to take leftovers. Nice people there.

I have eaten at this restaurant twice with my family that lives in the area and can't wait for another trip east to visit again. My dad has followed this business through several moves and knows the quality of the consistent meals.
