Great Brunch

My family and I went there on a whim wanting to try something new. I loved loved loved the crab cake hash - pure heaven. Hubby had the full protein breakfast and liked it. Daughter wasn't a huge fan of the waffles - which was surprising. Service was nice and attentive.

I ate there yesterday, oh wait no I didn't. I tried. I went there with two friends for breakfast. After a long wait we were greeted by the server. We ordered drinks and food. I ordered scrambled eggs and ham. After a long wait once again the food arrived. My eggs were poached and decorated with a hair. My friends... More

went in for a quick glass of wine on Friday. rude server. we sat at the bar and got grand view of inadequate hygiene in their kitchen. the wooden chopping boards were wiped "clean" with dry cloth between chopping chicken, onion, cabbage, cheese etc. Gross. we will not be returning.

This is one of those impossible-to-get-into spots on Lower Lonsdale. Hungry at 5pm worked in our favour last week. We were able to get a table at the district, and were in and out before the uber trendy crowd arrived. We had an early dinner at The District on Friday night. I had the beef rib - just one single... There are several little eatery gems in the area, but District keeps calling me back. Lunch today was Duck Confit Poutine. Oh salty goodness, how I needed you!. Unpretentious poutine with all the right flavours would have been fine, but add the duck and oh, oh, oh my. The staff were just delightful and as it was a late lunch,... More

Went to The District for the first time last night with friends, and definitely won't be going back. We all shared a double order of crab fritters that was basically deep fried dough with no crab in sight, along with some deep fried oysters served so heavily battered and overcooked that we had no idea what we were eating. My... More

I don't get this place - music had nothing to do with "European" flair this restaurant allegedly offers. The food was mediocre - the portions were incredibly small - my scallops were great but the gehakt ballen were subpar with no flavor the same for the beef croquettes - super tiny portion - with no flavor - if they are... this place is trading on past glories. Once a cool place the new servers or floor manageress is inattentive, rude and just plain unfriendly. Beer choices are still great but try getting one! Missed orders, delays and poor food were upsetting to the group of us. Frites are still outbid this world but this place needs to focus on customers.... More

I visited The District for Dine Out and was thoroughly impressed with the food. The portions were very generous (I was expecting much smaller). For the appetizer I got the escargot which may have been the best I've ever had! Filled with cheesy goodness!! I had the tenderloin for the entrée which was just divine! I'd also have to extremely... We dropped by 15 minutes before closing and very warmly welcomed by the staff. We ordered the poutine to go, but decided at the last minute to eat in the restaurant after assuring the staff we'd be out by closing, but they very kindly said not to worry or rush. The poutine was fabulous - there is definitely something different... More
