Like with our handcrafted beers, you won’t find any packet-mix nonsense in our kitchen, it’s all about fistfuls of freshness. So fresh in fact we pluck the fruit and veg from our own kitchen garden as much as we can. We bake our own bread and make our own sauces. Our eggs are laid by our free roaming brewery chooks. If you listen, you’ll hear they hiccup rather than cluck. When it comes to natural flavours, there’s no faking it, so we let these dominate the dish. With a range of meals catering for all ages and all times of the day, you can make a booking or simply turn up and we’d be happy to fill your plate.

Different!

We would never have found this place ( as tourists) unless being told to go there by locals. It's 30 minutes West of Auckland and maybe off most overseas visitors' main track. Its a brewery! Sit at the bar and see the glistening beer production going on behind the selection of taps. The service... read more

This was a great lunch stop! We went out of our way to go to Hallertau Brewbar, and glad we did! I had the venison burger and the other 2 ordered the beef burger. We were all happy with our choices and enjoyed all our beer choices as well. Love the atmosphere and we were able to watch them brewing... More

what a great restaurant and bar . We dined there last night for the first time with a couple of friends of ours . What a great atmosphere , the restaurant was packed and we new straight away it was going to be a great evening dinning out with our friends . The food was great and generous portions as... More

We have eaten here before and had quite good meals but it's been a while since. Disappointed with all our meals. Very ordinary particularly my daughters pork belly which was so fatty it was inedible. The worst part of the evening was the wait! An hour. We asked what the problem was and was given a weak response with no... More

Having just visited the Gannet Colony at Muriwai with two friends from overseas we were all feeling peckish. So we found the Hallertau brewbar and restaurant by accident having taken a wrong turn at Riverhead Road. As we were already in the car park we decided to go inside and order some potato wedges and a few of the beers... More

The sort of place where you lean back after the meal and say 'we enjoyed that, it was worth the trip'. It's a clever combination of craft beer and excellent cooking of NZ standard fare. It's a chilled out place but the friendly service really hit the spot. Like good beer and food? Here's a great place to visit. The... More

We went for a latish dinner (8.30pm) and just got the last order in before the kitchen closed. It was Wednesdays burger night where you can get a burger and a beer for around $20 so our choice was made up. But some of the other dishes on the menu also looked pretty good. Service was attentive, but not overbearing,... More

Had a great Sunday afternoon lunch with nice drinks. It was very busy and we were served quickly. We had the Pulled duck salad and potato wedges, portions were good size and excellent flavours. We cannot fault this place.

We purposely stopped here on our way to the Bay of Islands. We arranged for a tour and tasting. What a great experience. We got a behind the scenes tour that you wouldn't find in many places. And the beer tasting was delicious. The cider was also yummy. We enjoyed the food very much and even bough some of their... More

The beer is brewed on the premises and is great. I often call in and purchase some take home packs. Today my partner and I decided we would have lunch. We were seated promptly and the service was efficient. Glasses of water arrived quickly without us having to ask. The menu looked interesting for pub style food. I ordered the... More
