Good Morning Tea Spot - Watch Out for the Birds

We called in here to have a Muffin & Coffee break after walking around town for a few hours. It had been recommended by a local. It was very crowded (took it as a sign that the food must be good) and we were able to get a table down the back. They also have an alfresco area in the... read more

We had breakfast here after arriving in Devonport on the 09:15 ferry. One full breakfast and one chorizo with beans and poached egg, plus two pots of tea. Swift service and a nice breakfast. Tucked out of the way on Clarence street. Large indoor eating area, the sandwiches looked good too.

We knew that we were onto a winner when we saw how many people were having lunch here on a Wednesday afternoon! The sausage roll was one of the best we have ever eaten. Both of us had a really delicious chicken pide roll with salad that was fresh and tasty (packed to the brim with salad and lean chicken... More

Always visited here when in Devonport but not again. We only wanted coffee and it wasn't particularly busy but we began to wonder whether the barista was picking the beans as well as roasting and grinding them. However the worst bit was to come as my husband went to the toilet. He came back quite disgusted as to the state... More

The Stone Oven has been on my list of places to go for a while but I dont often get out to Devonport. We visited here after a walk at North Head. We arrived later in the afternoon (about 2 pm) so a lot of the cabinet food was gone. However, we all managed to get a good lunch out... More

I am a Tour Operator who does an Auckland City tour for passengers off the cruise ships that visit Auckland and we always stop at Devonport at lunch time. I have three eateries I recommend to my guests and the Stone Oven has always been one of them. I have noticed in the past that the service was sometimes very... More

Fabulous food, great coffee. This cafe bakery is a must if you are in Devonport (a short and very enjoyable ferry ride from Auckland CBD). Great stop off for morning tea, huge selection of cakes and pastries. Also great spot for lunch, varied menu. Lovely ambience. I try and get here everytime I visit Auckland.

Visited at the end of December and we each enjoyed a pie and a cuppa. Mugs were large with delicious tasting coffee in. No complaints about service. It was very busy but service was quick and friendly.

The food arrived quickly and we were all very happy with our choices. The muesli has a wonderful assortment of fruit (including blackcurrants). Lots of condiments on offer if you want extra balsamic vinegar, oil, tabasco etc. Generous servings. It has fabulous cabinet food and if we had been staying in Devonport for longer we would have returned for lunch!

This is my first online review. I rarely complain about customer service but this needs to be said. This place serves great food. It also serves okay coffee. The service however is appalling. We used to visit the stone oven often as it is kid-friendly and big enough to accommodate buggies. Such a disappointment when we visited last month and... More
