The exterior of Brecon’s Felin Fach Griffin may be of ‘another country pub’ but step inside and it’s almost as if chintz and row upon row of horse brasses never happened. Boldly coloured walls and plush leather couches sit happily alongside scrubbed wooden tables and chairs and historic beams, but it’s the food that we’re here for…the very food that has critics raving and the awards piling up. Locally sourced ingredients, including a selection from the restaurant’s own kitchen garden, provide a centrepiece for glorious dishes full of imagination. Make the most of melt in the mouth mains and to die for desserts but remember to leave room for the spectacular selection of Welsh cheeses which really make the meal.

The Felin Fach Griffin has won the Best Family Restaurant award for the United Kingdom in the 2008 Good Food Guide.

Just beautiful

I'd heard so much that was good about the Felinfach Griffin I was afraid it would disappoint. It didn't. I'd heard so much that was good about the Felinfach Griffin I was afraid it would disappoint. It didn't. Everything about it was lovely - the beautiful old building, the log fire, the quirky pictures on the walls, the friendly, attentive service, the interesting wine list with so many available by the glass. The food was inspired. I had gnocchi... More

This was our first visit to Felin Fach Griffin and hopefully not our last. The pub has a great atmosphere with the fire and sofas to welcome you where you can have a drink and browse the menu. The list of drinks is great with many unusual and tempting options to choose from. The food menu is just as good... More

Great service, lovely food & atmosphere. Long lazy Sunday lunch highly recommend. I would suggest booking as it looks as if it gets very busy. Having said that we were not hurried & the service & wait did not suffer at all.

The smallest portion of main course food I've ever been served in a restaurant! It looked like a plate of food for an under 5 yr old.

We had an excellent experience enjoying a wondeful pre Christmas lunch The staff were very accommodating ensuring we really enjoyed our meal in a relaxed atmosphere Whilst this place is a pub it is a lot more than a gastro pub The wine list is amazing and they are very knowledgeable about what they have to offer I recommend you... Booked in for a pre-Christmas family lunch at what is my local pub. Lunch menu offered something for everyone and at a reasonable price. The service is friendly and efficient. Pub was fairly busy so we were not able to take advantage of the comfort of the sofas in the bar for coffee. Lovely pub, very good food and great... More

Probably my favourite local country pub to visit when home - love to sit with a good beer on the sofas my the fire or have a tasty Sunday lunch. Has the local country pub feel I enjoy, so look forward to the next visit.

It's been over a year since we went to the Felin Fach for a meal. A birthday seemed like a good excuse to renew the acquaintance. When a restaurant starts over-using rich ingredients like cream and butter you know they're covering up for something - usually poor ingredients. There's something wrong, too, when you're seated at one end of a... More

I have eaten in the Griffin on many occasions and have yet to be disappointed. The location next to a main road might be off putting for some but once inside you are enveloped by a warm, friendly atmosphere and tempting odours emanating from the kitchen. I guess the decor would be termed shabby chic by some but it is... More

Visited the Felin Fach Griffin for Sunday lunch after reading an article about it online. The bar and restaurant was decorated beautifully with Christmas decorations and there was a lovely open fire which made it extremely cosy. We had the 3 courses, all of which were cooked beautifully and very tasty. The chocolate mousse, coffee and mascarpone dessert was the... More
