Description: The exterior of Brecon’s Felin Fach Griffin may be of ‘another country...
The exterior of Brecon’s Felin Fach Griffin may be of ‘another country pub’ but step inside and it’s almost as if chintz and row upon row of horse brasses never happened. Boldly coloured walls and plush leather couches sit happily alongside scrubbed wooden tables and chairs and historic beams, but it’s the food that we’re here for…the very food that has critics raving and the awards piling up. Locally sourced ingredients, including a selection from the restaurant’s own kitchen garden, provide a centrepiece for glorious dishes full of imagination. Make the most of melt in the mouth mains and to die for desserts but remember to leave room for the spectacular selection of Welsh cheeses which really make the meal.

The Felin Fach Griffin has won the Best Family Restaurant award for the United Kingdom in the 2008 Good Food Guide.

Great food and excellent service

Went here with my mum and sister, the food was excellent and definitely worth the money. The staff were lovely and went that extra mile to help us out when no taxis were available to take us home.

As it was a pleasant sunny day, we ate in the garden. Service was very good, with nice touches such as complimentary home-made bread and potato crisp 'nibbles' while we chose from the lunch menu. The food was very enjoyable, with a good choice for carnivores. (We are both vegetarian and there were also a couple of choices for us.)... More

I received vouchers for this restaurant for my birthday. It's advisable to book although, it was only half full on the Sunday evening when we went. I was pleasantly surprised by the lady on the phone saying they would issue more vouchers if we didn't spend the amount of the gift. I have never heard of that before! All waiting... More

We called in for lunch on our way back from a week's holiday in West Wales. We had the prix fixe 3 course lunch for £22, which had a couple of choices for each course. We were presented with complimentary fresh soda bread & butter with home-made crisps with aioli whilst waiting for our starters. We had the smoked salmon... More

We are vegetarians and were very happy with the veg options on the menu. We were offered a beetroot and apple soup, complimentary, as an appetizer. When I praised it to the server and said I was going to try to copy it, she said that if I emailed them, the chef would send me the recipe! What a concept!... More

After visiting The Felin Fach Griffin many times during weekdays (Monday-Saturday), and always having the rib-eye steak (have yet to find a better one), we celebrated a birthday by having Sunday Lunch there. There was a set menu, with a number of choices for each course. The dishes were served in good time despite it clearly being a busy service... More

We have been meaning to go for a while, and a holiday near to Abergavenny gave us the opportunity and we were not disappointed. We had a mixture of set dinners - good value at 28.50 for 3 courses, including very good salmon fishcakes and a rich, creamy duck parfait for starters and a beautiful risotto for a main, and... Having had a fantastic meal at The Gurnard's Head, Cornwall the week before, we thought we would try this restaurant for our anniversary when we got home. The food was nice but my husband and I both had the lamb and found the juice too salty. The rest of the food was good but we found the service quite sterile... More

Still living up to it's name. Good atmosphere and good pub food. Excellent Lebanese starter with a twist. Delicious steak, and vegetables. My son's chips looked and tasted fabulous.
