Description: The exterior of Brecon’s Felin Fach Griffin may be of ‘another country pub’ but step inside and it’s almost as if chintz and row upon row of horse brasses never happened. Boldly coloured walls and plush leather couches sit happily alongside scrubbed wooden tables and chairs and historic beams, but it’s the food that we’re here for…the very food that has critics raving and the awards piling up. Locally sourced ingredients, including a selection from the restaurant’s own kitchen garden, provide a centrepiece for glorious dishes full of imagination. Make the most of melt in the mouth mains and to die for desserts but remember to leave room for the spectacular selection of Welsh cheeses which really make the meal.

The Felin Fach Griffin has won the Best Family Restaurant award for the United Kingdom in the 2008 Good Food Guide.

No criticisms I'm afraid!! The atmosphere was good, it was full of diners on a Monday night which says it all. Sofas to sit on by a log fire. Beer was good - or so my partner says and the food was totally delicious. Would definitely recommend this and visit again.

We arrived late Friday afternoon on a very wet and windy day; the comfy sofas and log fire were very welcome, as were the staff. They advertise a shelf of sherry so I asked for the barman's recommendation - thus followed a tasting session and a delicious Pedro Himinez. We spent a lovely 2 hours relaxing and reading the papers... More

We enjoyed a really pleasant evening at The Griffin with excellent food. The atmosphere is of a welcoming old inn but with a modern approach. Service was without fault even to the point of our arrival drinks being provided free due to a small delay with our table still being occupied. The food was almost breathtaking. My starter was pork... More

We had Sunday lunch just before christmas with friends at The Griffin. This is our third time at the pub in the last six months and we keep coming back. The menu is always excellent and whatever dishes are ordered they all look and taste amazing. Consistently excellent food and service. Well worth the drive and excellent if combining with... More

Yesterday we were en route home from a New Year's break and stopped at the Griffin for lunch. There were just 6 people in the bar and less than half the dining room tables were occupied, but sadly we were ignored for about 5 minutes until the young female maître d' approached us. Our request for a table for 2... More

Thank you for reporting back on our experience with us, although other guests present suggest that we should be very happy with how Jess (who we'd be very far from embarrassed about) dealt with the challenging nature of your approach to the situation. We'll always do our level best to fit guests in, but there will be times when we... More

A wonderful evening with family in a cosy and relaxing atmosphere. We sampled some interesting cocktails from the specials board before enjoying a delicious meal. We stayed at the restaurant and we were able to linger at the table without feeling that everyone wanted us to leave. Breakfast was also delicious.

Just had a wonderful lunch. Beers on tap were fantastic & an extensive wine list available. We had the beetroot & salmon starter then the pork belly & the hake for main course, everything was beautifully prepared & presented. The staff were welcoming & attentive. There was a lovely log fire which made it feel very cosy on a winters... More

We don't visit regularly but we really enjoy when we do. The food is lovely and it has a great relaxing atmosphere. Most of the staff were friendly and attentive, but it was very busy. We'll definitely be back again!

Found this inn whilst looking for something else. Glad we didn't find the other place! A wonderful experience from the moment we walked in. Attentive staff, friendly and welcoming without being overwhelming. Nothing too much trouble for them. The food was absolutely delicious. Best meal we have had for a long time. Not the cheapest but worth every penny. The... More
