Description: The exterior of Brecon’s Felin Fach Griffin may be of ‘another country pub’ but step inside and it’s almost as if chintz and row upon row of horse brasses never happened. Boldly coloured walls and plush leather couches sit happily alongside scrubbed wooden tables and chairs and historic beams, but it’s the food that we’re here for…the very food that has critics raving and the awards piling up. Locally sourced ingredients, including a selection from the restaurant’s own kitchen garden, provide a centrepiece for glorious dishes full of imagination. Make the most of melt in the mouth mains and to die for desserts but remember to leave room for the spectacular selection of Welsh cheeses which really make the meal.

The Felin Fach Griffin has won the Best Family Restaurant award for the United Kingdom in the 2008 Good Food Guide.

We were warmly welcomed here and shown to a table in the attractive restaurant area. Our waitresses were charming and the food and wine just superb. I had some reservations about visiting this pub/restaurant as I was not impressed when I ate at their sister pub in Cornwall, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Highly recommended.

We arrived for lunch without a reservation, but they nonetheless were able to fit us in within 10-15 minutes and gave us a menu so we could order before being taken to our table. We recommend the three-course set menu for £21. The portions were just right so that we were full up, but not bloated by the end of... More

Went for lunch for my other half's birthday and had a great time. Was a Monday lunchtime so expectedly quiet but staff were still attentive and friendly. A lovely venue inside and out. Food was great, my vegan partner got her own full menu to choose from which is fantastic. Nice bread and appetiser on the table, for me a... More

A very busy little pub and a great place to break a journey for lunch. Reservations are required if you want a table inside. The menu is not the usual pub food but is reasonably priced, well cooked and presented. We loved it.

A great experience right from the start. When booking our table, I was asked if my group had any special dietary requirements - I was asked in an informative and positive way, not a forced strap line - Brilliant. Drinks reception in those large sofas, and a really well served meal, cooked to perfection. A great experience, which was expensive,... More

Basic pub fare cooked with no spark or innovation. Perfectly acceptable for the pub round the corner, but a real disappointment for a food destination. Trading on past reviews, and needs to get its act together.

A top class restaurant... very busy so need to book... good ambience ... fresh food ... goof staff and extensive wine list... Excellent chef with good menu.... Only point to mention is that portions can be small and some starters, such as the crab, a little bland. However this is a pedantic point to make & should not put you... More

Stayed for a Sunday Night Sleepover (Sunday Lunch, Dinner & Breakfast + room for £200 for two - an absolute steal). The chef and his team are a really talented bunch - each dish perfectly balanced, fresh (they use their own garden produce) and locally sourced. Stand out dishes included dressed crab, superb pork loin and a gorgeous Mediterranean fish... More

Stayed nearby, in a place that i did not want to dine in, so gave here a try instead. Anyway, the service was friendly and efficient, although the table that we were given, as we had a reservation for some time, was a little disappointing. The food itself was well presented and enjoyable to eat throughout, so you will not... More
