Best chips ever!

We stopped here as a good dog friendly place to meet friends enroute home from separate holidays. The waitress was lovely, nothing was a problem, polite and helpful. The food was excellent from the pate, the sandwiches, the salads and the burger looked (and apparently was) amazing! The chips get a... read more

My daughter and I were driving down from Scotland and about an hour before we stopped for the night we went online and booked this Inn. Unfortunately when we got there they had not received the booking from the website and had no rooms left. However I wanted to write a review to say that they were so helpful and... More

On our return to the pub, owners have changed but the quality of the food remains the same, whether its a sandwich or a steak there's a good choice for all, the hand cut chips are quality and a choice of ales to suit all tastes.

Twelve family members met here on Saturday for a Christmas lunch. We were given a warm welcome by the staff who looked after us well. The room was warm and cosy and nicely decorated for Christmas. Food was served all day so we were able to stay as long as we wanted without being rushed. Food was hot and tasty.... More

My sister got married at Allerton Castle just up the road so we all stayed here and it was just the job for most of us. Some of the family are used to 5* and as a result were a bit disappointed by the standard of the accommodation but you get what you pay for and the location for us... More

This is a really nice traditional English pub for lunch. Good food at reasonable prices, nice fire, lovely staff and a fabulous Bavarian Mountain Hound called Hugo. Big car park too. Very comfortable and the staff do not rush you. Not the biggest or widest menu on Earth but enough to satisfy most palates. Good sticky toffee pudding! Will go... More

Good atmosphere, good value pub food. Really good with kids, locals and anyone else. Good for drinking and eating. It's not really a restaurant but a good night out in a good old fashioned pub. Food is not fancy but they are good at what they do x

We stopped here by chance on our way to a camp site. It was so good we made a point of finding it on the way home. A lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and Hugo the dog, what more could you want? Tasty well priced food, they've got that too! Four of us had four different meals on both occasions and... More

We were in a party of 6 recently, and although the Pub itself seems very pleasant,I thought the food was probably the worst meal I had ever eaten in a pub. The vegetarian option (no choice) was pitiful, bland and unimaginative; supposedly spiced cous cous with a bit of "caramelised"onion. My husband had a gristly ,thin sirloin steak, and we each...
