Deserves 2 stars Michelin!!

For the 4 th time we have eaten at the Gindreau with the new owners and again it was absolutely fantastic! My husband had foie gras wrapped in a leaf ( beetroot?) and he thought this was the best foie he has ever had! And we have often had dinners at 2 and even 3 Michelinstars! Every detail is... read more

This visit to Le Gindreau was for our wedding anniversary but we were accompanied by two friends who had never experienced the restaurant. As ever the welcome was wamr, the decor superb and the new menu cards were attractive. The meal was outstanding with a fusion of flavour, colour and interesting food. Two of us had the asparagus entree, followed... More

When the sun is shining , it's your wife's birthday, you are having lunch on the terrace at a terrific restaurant in the French countryside - it doesn't get much better !! Le Gindreau is French cuisine with a modern twist, the sole with truffles was a standout, but every course was delightful. Attentive staff with passable English and an... More

From the start it could not have been better apart from having to eat inside because it was not warm enough to eat on the terrace (but I doubt if that was under the control of the restaurant). On a warmer day I imagine eating on the terrace would be one of those life enhancing moments that are quite rare. We... More

This meal was just sensational from the start. The amuse bouche were delicious, the starters amazing, main course was unbelievable and desserts very naughty. The multiplicity of flavours denotes a chef with a wonderful palate. The service was superb, as usual. This is a classy restaurant but you feel comfortable and at home, thanks to the friendly staff. The whole... More

We went to dinner at Le Gindreau. The greeting by the host was warmer for the French patrons , that for foreigners. And, my husband is French! That evening, the amuse- bouche was explained to the neighboring table, and for us there was no explanation. The food was average for the dinner price that we paid. The dining room was... More

Just enjoyed our 4th year of the wonders of Le Gindreau. Visited 3 times this summer with guests of 3,8 & 19. Various dietary requirements catered for beautifully. Staff warm and welcoming. The former owners of Le Gindreau have retired, and so this charmingly-placed restaurant enters a new phase. The setting - a broad terrace high above the village road in St Medard - is just as inviting as before. But the food, sadly, has changed. Gone is the elegant and delicious simplicity that used to make this address a 'go-to' destination.... More

There is little to beat the great food, relaxing location and fabulous wine and cheese selection. My only disappointment was not finding the foie gras cornet featuring on the menu.
