We considered ourselves so lucky to stumble upon this beautiful restaurant today. We had a fantastic table in the window with gentle sunlight streaming in, this is no ordinary restaurant, it's clearly a passion and a wonderful creative partnership between the lovely Italian owner and his chef who has been at the restaurant for 17 years. We all opted for... More

Dined at this gem of a restaurant lunchtime today (Monday). Food, service and atmosphere was absolutely first class. The stars of the show for the table were the Haddock off the set menu and the strawberries and cream with a twist! The food is reasonably priced for a restaurant of such high standard especially if you eat off the set... More

We were a party of three and dined on Sunday at lunchtime and all chose from the set course menu. We were warmly greeted by the owner, Alphonso, and he showed us to our table. The head waiter, Alfio, recommended our wine and both were very good . . . he never lets one down. Our starters were Moroccan Lamb,... More

Really good and varied menu, food is of the highest quality and service is attentive. Great for a quiet meal or family occasion, I like their creative take on traditional home cooked food.

I had the pleasure of being brought here for lunch by a friend .Fearing the elitism and often pretentious atmosphere associated with such dining I would usually opt for a more informal dining experience and head to the nearest gastro-pub . However and thankfully all my preconceived notions were duly challenged during my lunchtime visit to St.James. The restaurant itself... More

Always have a good meal here. Friendly, pleasant service with a smile. The owner is charming and although we are "regulars", we are of the infrequent variety. Great food, very accommodating and very tolerant of allergies and food foibles. Highly recommend - great for parties too! A local restaurant that has a warm, buzzy feeling.

Went here for my birthday with my wife. Being midweek I did not really excpect it to be very busy .... and it wasn't Waiters were very curtious and understanding and allowed us to take our time. Restaurant was a little too quiet for us. Although the food is great, it lost a star for me because there was no... More

I'm not one to write reviews. Quite frankly I barely find the time. However, I feel compelled to say that St James should be considered one of the best in Hertfordshire. I'm lucky enough to have dined in some top London restaurants through work and can hand on heart say that in terms of quality of food and service St... More

I rarely feel compelled to write a bad review but I was so disappointed with our visit to St James tonight. I have not eaten at this restaurant for a long time and it used to be really good. The menu was so uninteresting. I struggled to choose something to eat and when I did it really was unexciting. Then... More

I had dinner at St James ' s again last night. They never disappoint .. The new menu is as innovative and exciting as ever ..I had Tiger prawns as a starter followed by lamb and both were super. The staff are warm and welcoming to every guest, well known or new. This is a local, High Street restaurant that can... More
