FANTASTIC STAY

Have just returned from a fantastic 4 night stay at 'The Bell'. What a little gem, The Pub/Inn itself is lovely with oak beams and a beautiful log fire and very friendly locals. A traditional pub with a small but lovely eating area. Although the pub is nothing fancy the food is gorgeous. We ate here for roast dinner which was very good. Both starters and deserts were a good size and reasonably priced for the quality home made food that was made. Try It and see what you think..... We were pleasantly... More

Great find. Tucked away on a country lane just outside of Rye, its away from all of the tourist traps in town. Proper, home cooked pub food served hot too! So many places fail at that hurdle but not these guys! I love that i can take the dog along to enjoy a pint or a proper meal, he is... More

Whilst the menu choice was varied we felt that there were not enough regular choices for those not into game, etc. The food we had was beautifully cooked and hot, the staff were extremely friendly but we do not like having dogs in the restaurant when we are eating and therefore would not return.

My first job when visiting an area is to check out Google for pubs with rooms good beer and good food. The Bell ticked all those boxes on the search, so we booked a long weekend for my wife's birthday and our 41st wedding anniversary. After a 250 mile drive it was good to find the bar open (all day... Went to this inn as the restaurant we intended to go to was fully booked. Not sure when we looked at the menu but, what a surprise, the food was excellent. Beautifully cooked and presented. Between us we had the lamb, pork and steak and no complaints from any of us. Very friendly staff, Would definitely visit again if in... More

Everything we needed and more for a motorhome stop over and delicious evening meal. Posh fish & chips!! Desserts to stay awake for. Exceptional service. The exterior if building does not do justice to the welcome and treat within.

Went for a country walk, asked if ok to leave our car in their car park and return for lunch, not a problem. Waitress was absolutely lovely, polite and friendly. The filling in the baguettes were over flowing, could have easily shared. Decor country shabby chic, dogs very welcome even treats on the bar. Will be returning. Many thanks.

I went here last night with my family (5 adults 1 baby) 4 of us had the steak, it was ok but tasted more like charcoal including my brothers who had his blue. The chips were ok but didn't taste as good as they looked. I had the homemade profiteroles which where absolutly lovely. Would have been a lower review... More

Thank you for taking the time to review us and it is a shame that you only saw us as 'average'... Our steaks are cooked on a griddle pan to order and this enhances the flavour of the meat - not sure why you noted the taste of charcoal and we only wished you had said something at the time... More
