Good lunch stop on A303

Despite appearances, being right beside the A303 and with slightly tired decor, this is a great place for a quick lunch stop. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We popped in for a lite bite on a Monday early afternoon after a driving experience at Thruxton Motorsports centre. Our party of 3, two adults and a child had selections from the bar and children's menu, all of the food was freshly prepared and delicious, the resteraunt area was still quite busy so we sat at a table adjacent... We celebrated my aunts 90th at the White Horse. We were a large group including young children. The food was well presented and portions were of a generous size. Favourites included the garlic prawn starter and the delicious roast beef with all the trimmings. There is an attractive garden where we sat in the sunshine for coffee after our meal.

Popped here for lunch as the sun was shinning and I have driven past without visiting so many times I though a visit was over due. Situated right under the A303 I thought the traffic noise would annoy me but sat outside in the garden it was barely noticeable. Really good fish n chips if a little greasy and there... More

The food is absolutely fantastic and you can't fault it but the service is another thing. All started well until we ordered our drinks, took so long to get them our starters arrived before the drinks - not a good start. Then after the mains arrived we were just totally ignored, I struggled to get them to get us more... More

We were looking for a quick stop to have some food on the way back to London and are glad that we found this cosy Inn. The staff were really friendly, helpful and suggested some of the popular dishes (don't miss out on the pie of the day). We had the king prawns, bass and pie all of which were... More

Incredible food, worth the price on it. Nice setting for a good romantic meal or somewhere to celebrate. Norelle knows what she is doing in the kitchen and has great ideas on what wine should go with what food.

Not sure when the review about the "excellent" pies was written, but my recent experience produced the most awful steak and kidney pie that I have ever encountered - and I really do relish a good S & K pie! A lone, charming, waitress, eventually served the food - after a 10 minute wait for the menu, followed by a... More

Driving from Salisbury to London we noticed a gentleman walking along the side of the motorway with a sign advertising the white horse. Intrigued we decided to stop. A delightful thatched roofed inn with low ceilings. Staff efficient & the food tasty. Would recommend

We often travel the 303 and like to have a meal on route. The White Horse has become our most favoured as the food is excellent. The pies are fantastic and on a good day we can sit in the garden.
