It's actually somewhere between very good and excellent by local standards. A local expatriate recommended this place, thankfully. It's tucked away not too far from the airport and is a pleasant, green oasis (so remember the insect repellant). Owners are a friendly expat couple who deliver a quality experience at reasonable prices. Good food and drink list and attentive staff... More

Reached Mangoes when traveled out and could not believe my luck, western food that tasted just like a meal at home, only better!

Mangoes Bar & Grill menu is like a prayer book of forbidden delights. Shhhh, they have German-style pork schnitzel with home made sour krout too. And this is in a traditionally run halal country. And the apple strudel, baked by the owner who learnt her trade in Austria, are to die for, topped with ice-cream, and decorated with bougainvillaea flowers.... More

Hit: tallest Aussie burger to die for. Knockwurst (German sausage) also the one to try. Apple strudel is my favourite. Frangipani tart is good. Do serve apple ciders. Not on the menu. Just ask. Service is top notch. The glass never empty. Miss: lamb loin (300gm+) 3 extremely small piece of fatty lamb on bone. No doubt is 300gm. But... More

Unfortunately, we only came here on our last day in Langkawi. Otherwise we would have discovered earlier how much the other touristy restaurants just rip you off for not so great food! The place was cosy, welcoming, and most importantly unbelievably cheap! The portions were HUGE and the owner was beyond welcoming. Me and my husband both had the Australian... More

Having read the reviews we got our taxi driver to drop us here after a tour of the island. Great cheap drinks and a menu of hearty dishes including a number of specials. I had roast lamb and my husband had ribs. Both dishes were plentiful and excellent. One if the cheapest but best meals we had on Langkawi. An... More

What a surprise greets you as you enter Mangoes. It is situated in a back street, very understated entrance...then you walk into a setting of a veranda in tropical bush, open air, sea views with lots of efficient fans and you are immediately heartily greeted by Michelle and feel totally relaxed and at home. The menu is simple and has... More

Went to Mangoes on a number of evenings for dinner during my three week stay in Langkawi. Very high standard of food at reasonable prices with many different choices make this a favourite restaurant for me and numerous friends I have taken there. Michele, Lutz and the staff run a first class, unique restaurant which I thoroughly recommend to anyone.... More

My Indonesian wife and I are now regular visitors to Mangoes where we love the sub tropical environment, the food is simple but great and the service from Michele and Lutz is prompt and pleasant. The open space and lack of a/c is a blessing as you can feel every breeze coming through the trees from the ocean that is... More

I have been going to Mangoes every time I come to Langkawi and it never fails to deliver a nice home cooked meal.... Something that most tourists crave after eating in restaurant after restaurant on their holidays. Recently I read a review that called the owners racist. They are the farthest from racist of anyone I know. Much of their... More
