Description: This is a delightful cafe/restaurant that provides excellent low priced meals in a setting on the banks of the Clarence River. It is right beside the Pacific Highway and is an excellent break point for those driving the Sydney-Brisbane highway. We have eaten there twice in the past week and were most impressed. We think it should be better known, especially as the service is especially friendly.

We have been stopping off at this cafe for a few years on our way to and from Queensland. The cafe has tasty, quick meals and excellent coffee overlooking the Clarence river. Great place for kids to run around with clean facilities. We now plan our driving around a stop there.

A terrific spot located at the back of the historic Ulmarra hotel, right on the banks of the mighty Clarence River. There are picnic tables, plenty of shade and heaps of space for kids to play. You can eat your meal perched on the riverbank or in-doors out of the elements ... or other places in between. Even dogs are... More

I discovered this gem of a cafe, at the back of the charming Ulmarra pub, a year ago when driving back from Brisbane to Newcastle along the coastal highway. I was charmed then by the tranquil riverside location, multitude of comically courageous water dragons in the garden and the quality of the food. On that occasion I had the best... More

What a spot to stop on the long drive North - lovely old pub on the river bank of the Clarence just up the road, from Grafton on the Pacific Highway. The big grassy garden with shady trees and large picnic tables are perfect for respite. Good coffee, good hamburgers, and pleasant service, make this place worth your while.

A nice view of the river, soft grass for kids or dogs torun around on and water dragons that come right up to your table. A really nice little relaxing spot just off the freeway. Pretty decent scones and Toby Estate coffee.

The food is good, the price is not too bad the service is friendly and reasonably efficient and best of all the position is fabulous, particularly on a nice day when you can get a garden table overlooking the Clarence River. BUT the fact that management allow people with dogs to dine in the garden area really lets the place... More

Just enjoyed a lovely meal at Cafe Clarence on our way north! I am very particular about my salmon and it came exactly as I requested. Beautiful!! Our salads were fresh and beautifully dressed. Reasonably priced! Lovely old pub with good wine list. So nice to be able to get something other than "pub grub" when travelling!!
