Beer is what they do best

Great location and excellent beer. Bar food is ok but there's plenty of good restaraunts in the area. Perfect location on the pier.

We biked from Nelson Airport to Mapua for lunch. We chose the Golden Bear as we weren't looking for anything to fancy or pricey. We certainly enjoyed the drinks and the food was good and reasonably priced. We were also able to park the bikes very close to where we sat which was handy as we had forgotten the bike... More

On 9th January during a wine and beer tasting tour we had occasion to visit the above mentioned establishment. Admittedly we arrived 12 minutes earlier than the stated opening time and were told on no uncertain terms that we would have to wait until the 12 noon opening time even though the doors were open ie front and side. We... More

Food was delish and beer was tasty. Could do with some indoor seating though. Wait for food is quite long when busy so bear this in mind.

Just a short visit, wish it could have been longer. Had a beer and we shared some Nachos, both excellent. Great location

Absolutely loved our visit to Mapua while biking the 'Great taste trail'. The Golden Bear is a must visit. Great variety of beers and let you have a little taster first before purchasing. They also do food but we didn't eat here. Had background music playing and fantastic spot for people watching.

Always take the time to taste a few of the special beers from this brewery. The local atmosphere, and local musicians make this a "must stop" location

Lovely relaxed atmosphere with a great range of beers (plus other options, alcoholic or not) with live music and the sea nearby.

Located on Mapua wharf, not only can you sample some very good craft beer, the brewery is also clearly visible so you can see where it is made as well….. Doesn’t get much fresher than that! There is also wine and soft drinks available for the non-beer drinkers. Most of the seating is outside, so be prepared for the wind... More
