A recommendation for lunch was well satisfied as was our appetites. The son was the waiter and Mama and Grandma did the cooking in true Tuscan style. Marvelous! !!!!!

It's hard to get a bad meal in Italy, but our experience at this restaurant in the lovely village of Montisi was one of the best we ever had in this country. The owner Gianluca was very welcoming and wonderful throughout the evening. Everything was top quality, very fresh and authentic. We shared antipasti, tried the home-made pasta and the... More

Loved the food, service and style of this place. I just want to re-iterate what others have said. We had fun with the owner and allowed him to select much of our food. We were not disappointed. Worth a short trip.

My husband and I have been coming to this area for many years and have eaten in the fanciest and the simplest places and Il Barrino is super. Will more than satisfy the most jaded foodie, the menu is authentic without being trite and uses top-quality ingredients (lots of organic, seasonal). Home-made pasta, delicious grilled meats, amazing soups, etc. We... More

I struggle to comprehend that this is the same restaurant the great reviews are about. I'm sure the owner is lovely, although he was busy and stressed on our visit. The anti-pasti took 45 mins to arrive and we didn't need to order as it had all been done in advance, it took 4 hours to receive three sub standard... More

We went to celebrate the last night in Tuscany with friends, one of whom can't eat carbs of any description. Not only was this not a problem, but mama prepared something that we all would have been delighted to eat. In fact, as the rest of us mowed our way through local bread with 4 different local oils, the mixed... More

Thank you Gianluca and Gianluca's wife & mother! My husband and I just got back from our two week trip in Italy and we have decided this was our favorite restaurant. We had many meals here but my favorite was the Pici in the Pecorino cheese sauce with the ravioli with fresh pears coming in a close second. The cheesecake... More

The meal was one of the best we had in Tuscany. Definitely try the ravioli with blue cheese - absolutely delicious. Just trust the owner - he won't disappoint!

A new restaurant in Montisi this year is “Il Barrino”. Walking by one day, we were intrigued with the open door view inside the restaurant. Beautifully decorated now, it is actually a cave they discovered many years ago. The city was above and this was the underground storage where a shoot would pour grain down into. The manager, Alessandro, offered... More

We ran into a couple from Switzerland who was staying at our hotel and they recommended this place. There is no menu, but be sure to try the pear with pecorino cheese. To die for!!!. The owner is charming, and very gracious. His mother's food is amazing, we tried 4 entrees and he divided each into 4 servings so we... More
