Lovely Food!

Visited here for a family get together. We ordered mains, sides and desserts, all of which were really tasty, and of a very generous portion. The service was very good however it took quite a while to get through the bar queue in order to order food. Also, we needed to order all main dishes by 9pm... read more

The pub itself is lovely and the ales were great, but the food was a disappointment and let down this reviewer. At £9.25 for a prawn and avocado sandwich, I expected more than granary bread sandwich, skinny french fries and brown wilted lettuce on my plate. The deep fried scampi had no flavour and our dessert of chocolate fudge cake... More

Took my wife mother in law here as we had driven past it on the way back from the airport the previous week and thought it looked good from the outside. Firstly the good points, it is pretty (from the outside) and they have excellent real ale in casks. Now the bad points. It is very shabby inside, my mother... More

Pub is lovely, the food, not so much. We paid what we would for a decent gastropub in the area, yet all dishes were clearly deep fried from frozen. This pub needs to up it's game to compete with others in the area.

Been here twice, second time was last night, love the surroundings of the bear, but the food is ok, my husband likes the food, loves the pork belly, me and my daughter don't eat meat but do eat fish and veg meals, which not a lot to choose from, veg lasagne, or veg pie, fish and chips or scampi, had... Early evening meal on a Saturday proved adequate. There is a good choice of typical English pub food. I had the Chicken Piri Piri. This was adequate and tasty. I guess it was produced from standard mass catering ingredients. Other members of the party had fish pie and fish and chips. They seemed pleased. Bar has excellent list of guest... More

We thought we'd drop by for a Saturday evening drink and meal. The menu is pretty extensive (which I don't consider a good sign) and the majority of main dishes are around the £12 to £13 mark. I realise they were busy, but the food still took 45 minutes to arrive. We agreed that all three main courses we ordered... More

Out from London for a Sunday drive, we were pleased to stumble on this apparently ancient hostelry and, as it was nearing lunchtime, decided to stop. Clearly a popular destination, the place was already hectic at noon, the bar staff not yet geared up hence very slow service for drinks. The pub also operates a pay on ordering system which... More

For a number of reasons we have not visited this Restaurant for a number of years. It has retained its 'rustic' atmosphere. We visited on a Wednesday evening which was quite busy. Menu is typical 'Pub Food' and lacks a little in sophisticated choices but, quality was good. Did not like the requirement to order and pay for food in... More
