Perfect Englihs Pub & Fantastic Food!

Just got back from a fantastic lunch at The White Bear - what an incredible place! I loved all the little nooks and crannies you can choose to dine in with roaring log fires, a brilliant selection of pub grub and an amazing selection of ice cream to finish your meal in style! Can't wait to come... read more

Went to the White Bear as it was recommended by various people, its a lovely cottage style pub, on arrival we were shown to a table and given a menu, after about 15mins when no one asked if we wanted drinks , we asked for a wine list and was told you had to order at the bar along with... More

Having hired a car for a weekend we couldn't miss the chance to visit The White Bear (As it's pretty much impossible to get to via public transport). As there was only the two of us we were brave & didn't book & turned up at 14.15 on a Sunday prepared for a bit of a wait. We were originally... More

Booked for Saturday lunch to avoid possible crush on Sunday (Mothers day). Quite full when we got there but our table waiting for us and pleased to report that the service was very good. Quite dark with low ceilings, but quite expected for the age of the building. The ladies ordered the scampi which they both said was very tasty... More

I have visited this beautiful old pub several times & it never disappoints. The portions are always generous and the food beautifully cooked. Calling late on Saturday evening I was pleasantly surprised to get a table for Sunday lunch. We chose breaded brie, mushrooms & pate as our starters, all really well presented, & all followed with a roast washed... More

We have used the White Bear for some years now, it's always been a great venue, especially during the summer. Our latest visit (on saturday21/2/2015) was lovely. A great table in front of a big log fire, attentive service, and good food at a reasonable price. The staff were friendly, and made the whole experience seem relaxed and informal. The... More

I go to The White Bear with my family for spacial occasions - we have done for years. The food is lovely (occasionally the vegetables are a little too undercooked for our liking, but generally all is good). There's a lovely atmosphere with open fires in the winter. The drinks are rather on the expensive side which is the main... More

Have been here about 5 times, cosy in the winter and lovely in the summer to sit outside. Food is a resonable price. Would recommend if passing.

The set lunch is of a much lower standard than the rest of the menu. Our sorry little plates looked awful in comparison to the same dishes on other tables. A rip off as the food would be better in a road side café. On the plus, a nice old setting and great loose leaf tea.

Me and my wife went to the White Bear on a Sunday afternoon thinking we might have to wait or even book but they found us a table straight away (we were lucky, recommend to book). The food was absolutely amazing and not small portions either. We are definately making this our local from now on. The only negative I... More
