Lovely old pub, good food.

We have used the White Bear for some years now, it's always been a great venue, especially during the summer. Our latest visit (on saturday21/2/2015) was lovely. A great table in front of a big log fire, attentive service, and good food at a reasonable price. The staff were friendly, and made the... read more

I go to The White Bear with my family for spacial occasions - we have done for years. The food is lovely (occasionally the vegetables are a little too undercooked for our liking, but generally all is good). There's a lovely atmosphere with open fires in the winter. The drinks are rather on the expensive side which is the main... More

Have been here about 5 times, cosy in the winter and lovely in the summer to sit outside. Food is a resonable price. Would recommend if passing.

The set lunch is of a much lower standard than the rest of the menu. Our sorry little plates looked awful in comparison to the same dishes on other tables. A rip off as the food would be better in a road side café. On the plus, a nice old setting and great loose leaf tea.

Me and my wife went to the White Bear on a Sunday afternoon thinking we might have to wait or even book but they found us a table straight away (we were lucky, recommend to book). The food was absolutely amazing and not small portions either. We are definately making this our local from now on. The only negative I... More

Went last Saturday and three out of four of us thought the food was good. My experience was probably average, However ask for the specials board as there is only one and the staff let it be taken around a large restaurant so we chose and went up to order without even knowing they have one. The ales are very... More

My family has been visiting this pub for years! The service is always amazing (especially the French waiter, always so helpful)! If you're confused, they will talk you through the menu and help you choose, and they are surprisingly honest. The menu offers a very good selection - the steaks are great, and so is the venison and duck. The... More

We popped in here in between Christmas and new year for lunch and to make a change from eating turkey we both chose the steak and onion baguette from the light lunch menu. Although priced at a hefty £8.95 each, we decided to treat ourselves after the website declared that the pub is renowned for its fine steaks. After placing... More

This was our second visit in 2 years and nothing much has changed. Lovely old charming pub with welcoming friendly staff who were very willing to accommodate us(although no high chairs available so we had to bring the pram through the small space) This place could have a lot of potential but unfortunately it just caters to the basic tastes... I've had lunch at the White Bear several times. The location is stunning - beautiful, rolling country side, just a short drive from South London. The pub itself is old - 16th century - with low oak beams, old furniture and decorations, and a nice fire. The beer is great - the real ale selection is first rate. The food... More
