Very good beer, very average food

Whilst staying at the nearby Hilton for a conference I visited the pub and enjoyed a couple of pints with colleagues whilst sat in the nice beer garden. The beer was very good. We ordered food and this was very average (pre battered frozen fish for example) and not up to the offerings which you... read more

We called in for Sunday lunch, following a recommendation, and really liked this place. The interior was unspoilt and welcoming and the garden to the rear was large and green and quiet with lots of tables. The food was top notch, delicious - though we were too full to try the tempting list of puds - and the selection of... More

I went for dinner with my friends last night and I advised that we went to the plough as I've eaten there before and is normally very good food. We were greeted in a friendly manner and seated at a table we ordered drinks. We then ordered food and waited about 30 minutes for it to arrive, when it arrived... More

We called at this pub as we liked the look of it when we passed previously. We were a family of six travelling from Swansea to Bristol Airport and thought it would be nice to stop for lunch. We went to the bar only to be greeted by the comment, children are not allowed in this pub but if you... More

I am unsure of what realm of fantasy the people who run the plough live in. Running a friendly welcoming pub is a very simple oporation if you're good at it. Upon ordering ordering two pints, we were forced to buy snacks in order to meet the minimum £10 spend on card as they were unwilling to let us have... More

Nice traditional pub. Dogs welcome and children aren't. Hooray. I found the landlord very friendly as wars the locals?? Beer very good. I had a really nice porter which was very good. Ordered a couple of steaks m- rare. Both were well done. That said, very good plate of food. Will return

Visited following a recommendation. Busy even on a Wednesday evening - food arrived in good time and was complemented by good service.

My wife and I went for a meal on a Saturday night at 7 pm, we arrived early, not a good move as the afternoon drinking locals were loud and blocked all ways to the bar. When we were served the staff were friendly and helpful . By about eight oclock, the bar had calmed down and our meal was... More

Spotted this little pub on our way back from visiting thatchers cider shop so decided to stop for lunch. we both had ham, egg and chips and it was some of the best ham that I have ever tasted. They had a good choice of drinks and food. The service was excellent and we didn't have to wait long for... More

What more can you want on Easter Monday but a delicious meal in a welcoming inn? This is not pretentious - not gastro pub or anything like that but just excellent home cooked food. My game pie was superb and my partners Lamb excellent. Fine beer and lovely service. I am sorry the one star folk didn't enjoy their time... More
