Popped into The Plough Inn one night whilst staying at Cadbury House nearby! I had a really nice beef pie and mash. My girlfriend had a tasty fish pie. It was all fresh cooked and we only waited about 20 mins even though the place was busy! The locals were friendly too. Looked like a typical old pub inside. Definitely... More

Myself and my friends frequently go to the plough for it's food and real ales. We love the friendly atmosphere, open fires and wonderful garden in the summer. The food is proper home cooked food and you can tell that it's fresh ingredients. The staff are friendly and welcoming. After reading some of the other reviews on here I am... More

An excellent local bar with good food served as bar meals. Prices can be a little expensive for bar food but definitely some dishes worth trying. Ask for advice on the real ales. Very pleasant place.

More or less in the middle of Congresbury this is a real gem. Super beer, quiet country pub atmosphere, with really good pub grub (I had ham, egg and chips). No piped music, no slot machines, no large screen TV, just open fires and a warm welcome. No children allowed in the bar either though, so that might be an... More

Staying at a nearby hotel we were looking forward to a good pub meal. As a CAMRA member the prospect of a decent pint was also on my mind. It wasn't to be. We have a 7 year old child. The pub has a strict no children policy. We were turned away. Someone needs to tell the owners that this... More

On arrival with family and friends we were informed that no children were allowed in the bar but no problem in the beer garden. Which was fine as it was a pleasant afternoon and we were just going for a few drinks. Unfortunately as our 2 children we were playing in the garden one fell in dog poo. Thankfully he... More

Proper English pub with wooden cask gravity fed beer with excellent choice which proved you can have a tasty ale without high alcohol. Good quality generous portions of food. Enjoyed it so much we visited both nights or our 2 night stay!

I have lived in Congresbury for nearly 10 yrs and I have to say this is the heart of our village. The food is lovely and so are the staff. Gary the landlord is a really nice guy, always made very welcome, enjoy more every time I go.
