I first visited The Coldstreamer in Gulval during October 2013. At the time, I considered the pub to be a real gem as it offered excellent, good value food. This year I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the standard has improved even further. Over this last week I have been fortunate enough to visit The Coldstreamer on a number... More

Visited the coldstreamer a couple of times for a meal. I have to say to get value for your money your better of going for the early dinner menu. The customer service needs improving on our last visit we felt that we were a massive inconvenience and every order was a huge chore for the waiter.

Stayed here for a night. Dereck the manager was very accommodating. The dinner was exceptional which was pork belly two ways and the breakfast was fabulous. Room very comfortable. Great little village near to treheere gardens also worth a visit music a little noisy late at night hence the earplugs

having heard the food was good here we stopped in to try a selection of their bar snacks - they were more like tapas to be honest. Everything was fresh, tasty and beautifully prepared and presented. There was live music the night we were there (Sunday) so we didn't stay long. We did mean to go back but time ran... More

First appearances might make you think "local with food" but this dining experience is worth the trip. The rump steak and brill main courses were both superb and service friendly and efficient. Best sticky toffee pudding ever and the affogato was good too. Don't miss it!

We visited on a busy Saturday night. The service was intermittent. The starters were very good. Mine, a salad of cured trout with pickled cucumbers and shaved fennel and the others had a broccoli and blue cheese soup. The mains not to the same level. My duck leg was overdone and dry. The girls had a burger that came with... More

We had a meal without booking, when asked the man behind the bar replied yes, but the twists and turns of his story to get to that answer was completely entertaining, he has a terrific sense of humour! I realised this applied to other members of the staff who carried on joking about in the same manner, I thought this... More
