Authentic Vietnamese food served by friendly, courteous wait staff. Extensive menu, offering specialities of the house not seen at any other restaurant. Good quality ingredients, great sauces, altogether a delightful experience. The decor is charming with artworks showing snippets of Vietnamese life, while the choice of seating consists of cosy booths as well as a variety of table sizes and... More

We visited last night and ordered five dishes to share. Although the food was delicious the prices were pretty high for the serving sizes. Rice cakes entree recommended. Yum.

Went last night after attending a show at the Factory Theatre with high expectations, as I'd heard good things about this restaurant. So I was very surprised when it turned out to be one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. On arrival, we asked for a table for two - the woman pointed to two chairs along the... More

We've just been to dinner at Bay Tinh with a friend who has been several times and has in the past enjoyed it. Tonight we all agreed the service and food was very poor. It was slow, wrong dishes came, no rice, food cold, etc.etc. It's a carbon copy of what happened to the previous reviewer and the excuse was... More

We arrived at the restaurant to find that they had no table booked, even though I had only rung 2 hours prior. They managed to find us a table. We had a bottle of wine with us but had to ask for glasses after sitting there for a while totally ignored. We were also not asked for our order but... More

Some may say that it is not traditional enough, but that is perhaps because its founder used to cook for an Ambassador once in France so it's French influence comes out. All I can say is that it's my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Sydney, and meeting the head chef/current owner and hearing his perspective on the style, confirmed it. The... More

Bay Tinh was once a cosy, family friendy, inexpensive little Vietnamese restaurant in suburban Marrickville. The Bay Tinh of 2013 is still in Marrickville, still family friendly, but has had the interior decore consultants through and has adjusted its price points to no longer sit in the cheap and cheerful category - in fact its now a parsec or two... We used to go here regularly before it went posh and sophisticated. Although the food is still fantastic, the service has suffered and the food is exponentially more expensive than it once was. For vegetarians the bonfire beancurd is a difficult one to miss.

Five of us - 3 adults, 2 mid-age kids - visited last Saturday night. We'd booked for 6.30 but when we arrived they had no record of our booking. We ordered 3 entrees and 2 mains, plus rice. The first entree came after 30 mins, the second after another half-hour. The third entree never arrived. Mains took 2 hours; we... More

Ahhh Bay Tinh you always deliver. I remember when you were the old style non updated 1950's looking restaurant that was as cheap as chips. I actually miss the old days. Unfortunately when your premises were updated so were the menu prices but it's still a great place to eat. My favourite by far is the crispy pancake and spiced... More
