Terrific suburban café and an innovative small business

Here's a gem of Marrickville, serving a wonderful menu of lovely organic food. Good coffee, but gets busy especially at popular tones such as Saturday morning. Here's a gem of Marrickville, serving a wonderful menu of lovely organic food. Good coffee, but gets busy especially at popular tones such as Saturday morning. Cornersmith is a great example of a local business that is deeply engaged with it's customers - they run courses in pickling and preserving, bread baking, smoking and chilies... plus they use local produce... Saw a few reviews and gave it a go - what a good move that was - it's absolutely brilliant - try it now. Actually don't because it's small ish and there may not be space from me and I intend to go back a lot.  Warm friendly people and fabulous engaging service. Menu is interesting and innovative - nice... More

We love Cornersmith because the food is honest and tastes great. We had lunch yesterday and we had the pulled chicken barley sandwich and the platter. They sound uninteresting but are great. The pickles are brilliant and it is worth doing a pickling workshop so you can make them at home yourself, or buy them from the shop. I like... More

This enormously popular local cafe almost always has a queue, except on Monday mornings. The simple menu offers clean flavours and features their home made pickles. Also visit the Cornermith Picklery, further up on Illawarra Rd, where you can buy jars of the delicious pickles, Brickfields bread, Feather and Bone meats, as well as participating in pickle and cheese or... My only piece of advice, if you are visiting on a weekend morning, make sure you write your name on the blackboard to ensure they know you want a table. (you can't miss it as its at the entrance) This review was written after our first visit and putting it out there straight away - we will be back. The... More

I was given a table for one in the corner and I was not offered any water whilst the table next to me was waited upon extensively for drinks and requests. No sooner had I taken my last mouthful of my lunch, I was promptly moved on to coffee and my bill was brought over immediately without my having asked... More

Great coffee, lovely staffs and ambience. Came here during the weekdays (1pm), yet it was quite crowded. Fortunately we found ourselves some seats at the bar by the window. So i guess it's recommended that you go early. We first ordered an toasted rye with avocado topped with coriander and sprouts and it tasted heavenly. The sourdough was crispy and... More

This is a place that is trying too hard to be trendy! The meals where all good (except for desert). But when you have to work out why it cost so much, especially considering all the meals where either pre cooked (soup) or cold and didn't need a chef to serve them, and we were still hungry, then I would... We stopped for a quick breakie after a recommendation from a local. We weren't disappointed. Coffee was amazing and the food was lovely. Shame I live in another country or this would become my local.

Firstly, I would like to say, oh the coffee! It's like heaven when I take the first sip of it every time! There were a very rare few times that the coffee disappointed but that is only 1 out of gazillion times we've been there. Secondly, the food to me was quite average. I love organic and home-grown produce, however,... More
