Lovely

We called ahead after driving past earlier in the day and it looked a nice place to make sure that dogs were allowed and they were in the bar area. There was only a few in on our arrival, only one staff on the front doing orders, drinks and waiting on which she did well, but could of maybe done... read more

We were interested to visit having eaten here in years gone by when we found the food of a good standard and reasonably priced. However we found the food to be very average and over priced for what it was.

We went for a meal. We had the special, Thursday nights curry. Small portion of chicken curry which was supposed to be chicken tikka which tasted ok but not special. The rice portion was really measly. The meal was served with a nan but no poppadoms or pickle tray. There was supposed to be a musician coming to play, he... More

Went for evening meal with the family after ringing up half an hour before eating as we were driving and hungry and found it on a Google search. Menu was well presented and also had a specials list. As the pub is in the middle of no where I was surprised that there was lots to choose from which goes... More

We found this pub after a planned visit to Bowness. Following the road up through Crook, out of Bowness to Kendal, it appears on your left hand side. It is a lovely olde looking pub, which has recently had a full extensive refurbishment, which has kept its character and appeal. It serves food all day and has a good selection... More

We often eat when driving around locally and found the Sun by chance over the weekend when the area was awash with swimmers taking part in the Great North Swim and going to the Elton John concert. The Sun was welcoming, the food freshly cooked - one or two items were off the menu due to their popularity but it... More

I'd been to the Sun Inn several times and it's now under new ownership having been extensively refurbished while retaining its character. There's an extensive menu and attentive, welcoming owner so I do hope this winning combination is a success. Most visitors to Windermere and Bowness roar along the main A591 from the M6 but it's much more interesting to... More

We visited this pub whilst on holiday in May 2015. It was under new management and had been totally refurbished. The food and service were both excellent. We will be back for another visit when back in the area.

We have been to the Sun Inn on numerous occasions over the last four or five years and whilst the pub has always had warm friendly atmosphere it was starting to feel very tired. We had heard that it had been refurbished and decided to give it another try. The refurbishments are very much in keeping with the original feeling... More
