A hidden Gem!

Stumbled across this on our way to Lake Windermere, was so welcoming we went back at least another 3 times and enjoyed a couple of meals there. My boyfriend took a shine to one of the local ales so was delighted to discover they did a two pint take-out! Definitely recommend a visit.

Visited with my wife and young son. On arrival barmaid very helpful as she was through out however the menu was below average little choice and exspensive. My haddock was nice 5/5 but the chips were way to chunky pale and undercooked. The tartar sauce tasted of mustard. Not what good. My wife had a vegetarian lasanga thet was boiling... More

living locally, I wanted to visit to see what the pub was now like following the refurb... I wasn't disappointmented! The outside area is such an improvement, and the bar/ dining areas are also looking great! yes,it is a bit more modern, but that's certainly not a negative thing. Pre refurb, the pub was looking dated, cluttered and in need of a... More

We were having a little drive round the lakes on a weekday evening when we stumbled upon the Sun Inn. It was inviting, nicely decorated, good selection of beers and a good range of food on the menu and specials board. Whilst we were there, more people came into the pub to drink or eat and it was then that... More

3 of us went one lunchtime but we found the service to be very slow even though the place wasn't exactly packed. After an initial welcome from a lady behind the bar we found a table and were told someone would attend to us soon. Then nothing happened for 20 minutes. I walked across to read the Specials Board just... More

Enjoyed wonderful Cumberland sausage & Mash in a traditional Lakeland pub on the B5284 in Crook...with proper cask ales served at the right temperature! Lovely atmosphere, log fires and great service...what else could you want! I'd book if I were you to save disappointment! This place is under new management and word will spread quickly!

We have just visited the pub/restaurant for the first time since it was refurbished ,and is in new ownership.the meal was very disappointing, and not a patch on the previous experiences we have had there over the years. The food was average, and the presentation was very basic. It lacks atmosphere ,and is minimalistic, and contemporary. They have lost the country pub feeling it previously... More

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. The pub has been refurbished but most feedback has been good when visitors have come in. Our menu is seasonal backed with a specials board and we will be changing the menu 3 times a year and the specials board weekly. Our menu is 90% fresh food delivered and prepared... More
