This may not look too encouraging; opposite a station just near a roundabout and roadworks on the main road. But the queues out the door are a good clue. Go inside and you find a very attractive owner and 5 or six very attractive girls all working their socks off in what may very well be the world's best sandwich store. Actually , if you are on the way to one of the 10 golf courses between here and Gullane this is the perfect place to stop for your (very substantial) snacks. How does a place earn the title of 'World's Best"? Well , for a start there are about 30 mixes you can choose from. I went with Curried Chicken and Mango and added assorted salad (including fresh beetroot!) on cracked wheat bread for a perfect picnic sandwich. Our picnic was on one of the 4 or 5 great windswept beaches nearby. The Filling Station do lots of fairly solid home baking as well. They leave free samples on the counter to tempt you. I had an Apple Cinamon 'Rock' cake as well. All in all, well worthy of the detour. Suggestions? Would have loved a Scotch Egg or a fresh Sausage Roll as well!

I used to love coming to this place for lunch, but on my last 3 visits the staff are very rude. On one instance the shop only had a couple of customers inside when I came in and plenty of staff. They all seemed to ignore me even when new customers came in they got served before. Eventually when one... More

First of all I just want to say I absolutely love this place but I've literally just been and for some reason was given 3 quarters of a baguette. I was starving as well so I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed... 😢 For the most part this place is great but today I was quite upset! Keep the usually great... More

My golfing buddies and i never miss going in for a lovely choice of homebaking on our way to play golf down the coast.. Any one of the delicious scones is my favourite coupled with a good selection of hot drinks. The staff are all very chatty and you get the feeling that this is a well run local family... More

Staying at Seton Sands Caravan park I looked to trip advisor to recommend a local eating place, the closest was this tiny take away sandwich shop.... and a well deserved recommendation. We went four days of our trip for our picnic supplies, the choice of sandwiches, fillings, cakes, scones etc were endless. If we lived closer we'd be here all... More

This must be the best sandwich shop in Scotland. Great choice, huge portions. Unmissable when we visit East Lothian.

Take away food is excellent. Lots of choice. Quick service. Recently had a cream scone which was a bit dry, but that's first time that has happened.
