This may not look too encouraging; opposite a station just near a roundabout and roadworks on the main road. But the queues out the door are a good clue. Go inside and you find a very attractive owner and 5 or six very attractive girls all working their socks off in what may very well be the world's best sandwich store. Actually , if you are on the way to one of the 10 golf courses between here and Gullane this is the perfect place to stop for your (very substantial) snacks. How does a place earn the title of 'World's Best"? Well , for a start there are about 30 mixes you can choose from. I went with Curried Chicken and Mango and added assorted salad (including fresh beetroot!) on cracked wheat bread for a perfect picnic sandwich. Our picnic was on one of the 4 or 5 great windswept beaches nearby. The Filling Station do lots of fairly solid home baking as well. They leave free samples on the counter to tempt you. I had an Apple Cinamon 'Rock' cake as well. All in all, well worthy of the detour. Suggestions? Would have loved a Scotch Egg or a fresh Sausage Roll as well!

Posh or not sandwiches, hot food smiley faces.

A great place to build your own sarnie and nothing is too much trouble 😀 Apparently I have to use 100 characters minimum which I don't quite understand but I thoroughly enjoyed my purchases as above xx

its always a wee treat to have a takeaway snack from The Filling Station. The food is of high quality, the portions are generous & is excellent value for money.

Thank you to the lovely ladies who saved the day! After the Marathon we foolishly drove from the station with our boot open. We realised about it after driving for 5mins or so. A handbag had fallen out and the Filling Station staff saved the day by taking it in and keeping it safe. Thank you so much, will be... More

Tasty tasty food! Baguettes are lovely, paninis are delicious! The staff really need to lighten up though, every time I go, they never smile, never engage in any chat, they are all like robots! I understand it's a busy shop but a smile and a hello goes a long way!

I used to love coming to this place for lunch, but on my last 3 visits the staff are very rude. On one instance the shop only had a couple of customers inside when I came in and plenty of staff. They all seemed to ignore me even when new customers came in they got served before. Eventually when one... More

First of all I just want to say I absolutely love this place but I've literally just been and for some reason was given 3 quarters of a baguette. I was starving as well so I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed... 😢 For the most part this place is great but today I was quite upset! Keep the usually great... More

My golfing buddies and i never miss going in for a lovely choice of homebaking on our way to play golf down the coast.. Any one of the delicious scones is my favourite coupled with a good selection of hot drinks. The staff are all very chatty and you get the feeling that this is a well run local family... More

We were a group of 8, which the restaurant found very difficult to accommodate comfortably (most of the seating is in booth style). The service was very friendly. However the drinks were very slow to arrive. We had 1 child with us and her meal came about 10 mins after everyone elses - it had obviously been forgotten and then... More

Friendly staff, big selection, good quality, fair prices. It is the ideal hunger stop take away. After this first visit, I will be back much more.
