Overcooked and overpriced

There are few dining options in Westpunt. Given the number of people inside, we thought this would be a decent restaurant. There is no menu, rather the owner pulls up a chair at your table and tells you what is available for lunch. As neither of us had iguana previously we chose to begin with a... read more

There is a reason there are so many cars parked outside this cute red restaurant out in the middle of nowhere 25 miles west of town. We stopped here by chance while exploring the island on a day trip and were pleasantly surprized. Mr Jaancie was charming, the food was great and the restaurant was full of international diners. We... More

It took a while for someone to come to us, only after I sent my son for a menu we were found. The person in question was brusque to say the least. The musicians were loud and I could hardly make out what the person was saying. He seemed annoyed and asked if I spoke the language. He repeated in... More

Don't go if you are afraid of birds, the whole front area has sugar thiefs flying around! the menu is oral - the owner explains it in an interesting way. when you get your food he says

The food is nice and good enough but definitely overprized. We ordered fish, which was tasty and good. Although we had to wait for close to an hour to get the food.

This restaurant is on the main road to all Westpunt attractions. Jaanchies restaurant has been a Cucacao icon for over 3/4 of a century. After being seated by a waitress, we requested a menu. She responded by saying we will receive a

I swear she doubled the price for me because I was American. The menu seems to always be the same looking at reviews so they must not print it so they can change prices. The grouper was overlooked but tasty. The shrimp was overlooked and tiny. The rice and beans tasted burnt. The lemonaide was wonderful. They charged us $65... More

No menus so listen carefully. Wonderful portions. Beef stew is natively superb. Rice and Beans are to die for. All fish dishes are mouth watering. We had lunch and the portions were big enough for dinner. Moderately priced.

No menu. Rather, the owner himself comes to each table to detail the available choices for entrees and sides. Had a combination plate consisting of shrimp (which was outstanding) and grouper. Thought the grouper was a little chewy, but haven’t had grouper before, so nothing to compare it to. Were given small complimentary scoop of coconut ice cream for dessert.... More

I went there for the iguana stew. However I also ordered the steak, just in case I didn't like the iguana. It turned out I liked the iguana stew better than the steak. I wouldn't recommend the steak. I got two large pieces of meat but very thin. You are better off with the chicken or any other seafood. Make... More
