We were excited to visit Jaanchies after reading the reviews of the place being the best food on the island. The restaurant is at the north point of the island and was about 1:30 hour car ride from our resort (Sunscape). Jaanchie himself sat at our table with a "talking menu" that did not include prices. All meals are generally... More

The owner was super nice, he tells you the menu and answers whatever questions you have. He even gave us some free desert after our lunch (after we payed the bill, it didn't really seem free). The iguana soup was not that bad but it was a little gross eating the iguana because they leave the bones and it taste... More

We were excited to visit Jaanchies after reading the reviews, but we were unfortunately disappointed after having lunch there. The decor was pretty nice and we enjoyed watching the birds, but we were constantly getting bitten by mosquitos even though we had high deet bug spray on. Jaanchie himself was much less personable than we expected. In fact, he showed... More

The owner was super nic and spent a good deal of time at the table with us. We say right next to where the sugar thieves were having a blast eating a tray of sugar and water. The goat stew was superb and seasoned just right.

Despite many bad ratings we wanted to get our own impression: went there monday evening around 6.45 pm. There where only guests at 2tables. Right After we sat down the waitress came for our drinks (okay welcoming guests looks diffrent). Right after our drinks the owner came and asked us in which language he should tell us the Menue. Then... More

This place is a tourist trap. there is no menu so they charge you according to what they feel they can. we thought this is not a problem due to the low key appearance of the restaurant, but we were very surprised to be confronted with a bill of $24 each for a main course with soft drink. chicken and... Really original restaurant. Looks like a flee market inside! There is no written menu. The owner sits down with you and tells you what you can order. We tried the goat stew and, of course, the iguana stew. Both where quite nice. However, we did not go there to eat the most delicious food in the world, but to enjoy... More

Great local food but expensive for what it is. We paid $70 for LUNCH for two: 2 appetizers, 2 entrees. No alcohol.

Let's face it, we love where we eat for the ambiance as much the food... This place has it. Jaanchie personally comes to your table and tells you what's cooking today. Tropical birds twitter as you wait for one of the many fish of the day. I wasn't personally in awe of my tuna steak and red snapper... But I... More

If you are making the drive out to the West point of Curacao, this is a must stop. Don't expect a luxury restaurant, but do expect great food. There are no menu's but Jaanchi will pull up a chair and with a flair of his own, is the menu, as he describes the dishes available. The group of 6 had... More
