Even though it was a little warm and humid when we went, the atmosphere was so nice and relaxing and the food was incredible! Great bar area out at the far end looking out the ocean entrance to the marina.

We stayed at Oyster Pond for a week. We were staying at the hotel Captain Oliver that is NOT connected to the Restaurant Captain Oliver. We were cautious about the place, cosy tables and music; we thought it may be a tourist trap. At first the food really captivated us: French cuisine, and believe me, just judging by my belly... More

At $40 per person, this buffet needed to be good, and it was. The salads were impressive and plentiful, as were the smoked meats and fish. The meat course had carving board beef, lamb, turkey, mussels and fish. The desserts were not fabulous, but were still pretty darned good. Captain Olivers is on a marina at Oyster Pond and the... The view of the marina was good. The food was just ok, and the prices were outrageous for the quality of food. I felt a bit ripped off and regretted dining here. I wish I had chosen one of the other places nearby. Who knows if those would've been any better, but I'd sure like a do-over. We did eat... More

Just went to Captain Oliver's for dinner while in St. Martin. We've been there before and had a great experience so decided to go there again. Were we disappointed! I think they forgot that the main ingredient in lobster bisque is lobster. Only found one tiny piece and it was so salty it was almost inedible. The calamari was fried... More

Great location but the restaurant was tired and so was the food. They had a solo musician playing guitar and singing which could have been nice except all of the songs were from the Engelbert Humperdinck erra. We had the Calamari, Chicken Colombo (which was recommended by our waiter) and Salmon. The Calamari was deep fried to the point it... More

Last night my husband took me, our daughter, her husband and their 4 children to diner at Captain Olivers. We were celebrating a birthday. It was around 6.45 when we were seated and except for one couple the place was empty. The staff was not very forthcoming and on the verge of being rude. When we asked for a little... More

Captain Oliver's impressed with some of the worst service experienced on the Friendly Island. Apart from slow and apparently generally unhappy to be in the service industry, the food served (eventually) isn't anything special whatsoever. They have a great desert, though. You leave the table, walk to your car, get in it, start it, leave Captain Oliver's and pick up... More

The ambience is nice and the staff was pleasant. We sat on the "see-through floor" which allowed us to watch all the fish below while we waited for our food, however the piece of glass that my husband sat on had a huge crack in it which was a bit freaky. He chose to stay there. I had an omelette... More

Price was affordable, wait staff very nice, but slow and quality only ok. There are better choices to have breakfast.
