An acceptable breakfast place

Let's be frank, the appeal here is the railway carriage. The food was fine, nothing spectacular but not at all bad. A late breakfast of Eggs Benedict with salmon and a steak, both of which were fine. However the service was very friendly. it's worth a visit for the novelty factor.

The ambience is quite nice if one is into vintage style furnishing, this being a 1920 luxury dining coach train and I must say, adequately well preserved as such. Seems to take you to that era. But that is all about to there is. The menu book seems to be nearly falling apart and looks a bit unhygienic. Food is... More

Unique dining experience in Cape Town. after a long Sunday morning walk on the Sea Point Promenade , decided to try out the restaurant for breakfast. Breakfast was very filling and was OK. Not great. good experience to dine inside a train coach.

Lovely vibe with mainly local Muslim patrons. With it being a train carriage seating can be a bit restricted however the experience is wonderful. We ordered a savory pancake which wasn't bad however the steak that we ordered was amazing! It can get busy due to the limited seating - we visited at 8:30 and there was still a queue... More

Took friends from the UK to supper. There was four of us seating very cramped. Meal was average most of the fish over cooked and tasteless. We ate had a drink and left. Definately won't return

Being on a train, the seating was confined. The decor although average didn't deter in any way from sampling the food. The owners and staff were extremely welcoming and attentive. Enjoyed the starter of a cheesy garlic roll with a pineapple and apple pickle. For mains, ordered the butter chicken with rice which was okay (have tasted better). The steak... More

My husband had the butter-chicken, which was incredible. Beautifully balanced flavour, with a roti. We shared the variety platter with homemade spicy sauce which was delightful too. My burger however was a let down. Tasteless, with one sad leaf and tiny slice of tomato on a huge patty and bun. Needed sauce to just eat it. We also shared onion... More

We too tried the seafood platter; having already informed them when we booked we did not expect to have to wait an hour for the food. The platter was not bad but everything seem to rely on butter for flavor. The tiny crayfish tail was good; the miniscule piece of fish was tasty but the prawns were more steamed than... More

I'm really surprised at some of the other reviews I have read. We utilised one of our usual bargain Groupon deals for fish platters last week. Firstly, we had forgotten that the place is not licensed so after a giggle we opted for water and iced peach tea. The platters arrived and immediately you could see that the calamari rings... More

It was one of the best Groupon deal that I have bought! The crayfish tail was fresh and juicy. Prawns grilled absolutely perfect with the masala spice they've sprinkled on top. And 4 of us have shared "the titanic", which was the boss' recommendation dessert. It's a traditional pancake ice cream with almond flakes, the portion is huge and the... More
