There were 20 in the party, no food was pre-ordered, we had a very enjoyable night the staff were very efficient and pleasant. The food was excellent, pleasant surroundings, all the ingredients for a great night. Can highly recommend well worth a visit.

Our first walk of the year up to the mystical Drakes Stone in Harbottle was to be followed by a our first visit to this quintessential English pub for Sunday lunch. How quickly our excitement changed to discontentment and a sharp exit! Outside is a superb establishment inside is hopeless. We were greeted half-halfheartedly by a young girl whisked through... I have stayed here a few times in the past. It has new owners (new since we last went) the place is wonderful. Beautiful views. really comfy rooms and very clean. The food in the restaurant was beautiful and very reasonably priced too. The service was excellent even though they were very busy that evening. You cant beat the Northumbrian... More

We dropped in while travelling across Northumberland. The restaurant does have great views across to the hills which can be dramatic when the weather sets in however, it felt a bit untidy. The menu selection was acceptable for a pub but I was disappointed with the standard of the meal I selected. However, my wife was satisfied with hers. Our... More

This is the village Pub in Thropton, but the food is sublime! I had wonderful large garlic prawns, served in a shell, followed by monkfish tails, scallops and more prawns. The fish is lovely on the menu. they had changed the menu a bit since we last visited. But overall, the others meals of steak, and chicken were lovely and... More

Had the carvery, was fantastic, great choice of meat's. If you plan to have a starter or pudding the large is more than enough for the hungriest of people. Venison and vegetable soup was fantastic starter

Been here several times now and always look forward to returning. The Sunday carvery is excellent value especially if you can wait until after 3 as there is a Sunday deal if you eat after 3. Food is good, I have eaten from the blackboard menu several times and am yet to be disappointed. Service very friendly. The views from... More

Never reviewed before but felt I should. In my view the best Sunday lunch in Northumberland and great value for money. Huge portions for under £10 with great choice of meat including rare or well done beef. Puddings good too. I tell almost everyone I know to give it a go. Those that do go back!

Stayed in Thropton for a week in August (apologies for the late review). Ate in the restaurant on several occasions. Staff always friendly and food good. Amazing view and a lovely beer garden.

Sitting almost opposite what is probably the most expensive petrol station in the UK, the Three Wheat Heads is also rather pricey for what is just a pub restaurant. It is undeniably popular, but then the choice locally is not huge, but the decor is very monochrome and the lighting so bright that by the end of the meal I... More
