Cheerfull, efficeint staff, beautifully cooked and presented meals with plenty of veg (a side dish of 6 different veg), all in a nice friendly pub. One to remember and highly recommended

Not the best of experiences.I took my aged aunt here recently and was wholly disappointed. One waitress to cover bar and tables was insufficient and this rapidly became evident as the resturant filled up. Seated at about 12.30 our first course was ordered only to find that scallops were off the menu because the fishman hadn't been. However I ordered... More

on our first visit the food was very good, we enjoyed it all re visited recently and food had gone downhill particularly the smoked salmon starter such a shame as on our first visit everything had been first class, wondered if different chef on if so needs to be on a par with others has been brightened up a bit... I had two meals here, firstly the roast of beef and ham slices with all the usual extras. Tasted really delicious. Later in the week I had the Cod and chips and they were the same. Would recommend using this restaurant again.

Visited once on the 22/06/14 at 1830 and again at 1730 on the 26/06/14. The first time the service and food was fantastic. The second time the food was ok but the service (from the same person) was awful felt like we were inconveniencing him the whole time....even when we walked into a totally empty restaurant we were huffed at... Sat on a table too near the bar for a restaurant, ordered fillet steak which turned out definitely not fillet and when we pointed this out was told the chef apologised as it was the butchers fault, however, don't think it was the butcher who put the steak in the pan to cook it.

Stopped here for an early evening meal for seven and six of us enjoyed the food, but sadly one didn't and when we complained were given really the brush off. So would have gone back again as we were local for a week but we didn't , but we found The Cook and Barker in Newton on the Moor the... More

Sunday carvery is first class at the Three Wheat Heads, and the view from the restaurant of the Simonside hills is amazing. Family friendly with a lovely garden.

My husband and I ate here twice during our stay in nearby Rothbury, initially on the recommendation of one of the staff at the local tourist information office, but the second time because we had enjoyed our meal so much the first time round! I had the sea bass fillets (which were of large proportions and absolutely delicious) on a... More
