Having visited the Barrasford arms for many years what amazes me is the consistency of the quality of the food. I have eaten there for midweek lunch and evening meals, and weekend evening meals and Sunday lunch and have never had any cause for complaint. The staff are friendly and welcoming. My personal favourite is the cheese soufflé starter which... More

This place is amazing. I can not understand how anyone who likes good food could say otherwise. There was four of us dining and food we had on this occasion was for starters - fish cake, cheese soufflé, goats cheese Bon bons. Main meals - sharing steak dish for 2, veal and lamb. All the veg or chips served with... More

Two of us went one Thursday lunchtime, The place was very quiet. Unusually so according to the staff. The menu was in the process of being typed up for that day. I saw this as a good sign. Menu changing daily depending on what produce was available. Menu came. 4 starters, 4 mains, 4 desserts. Ideal. I hate places where... More

Arriving for lunch with friends, we found that it was an end of season clear-out menu, a clear out. Black pudding with processed apple goo and a poached egg, terribly dull, boring and lazy. Or s dreadful sounding fishcake of smoked haddock and bream or was it brill or something else Ham and eggs - hardly a gourmet choice -... More

Visited for Sunday lunch, food was amazing. It was £15.00 for 2 courses or £17.50 for 3 courses. I had the cream of leek and potato soup which was amazing, i've never tasted anything like it. Then i had the lamb which was very good. Excellent food and sevice, veg tray came with the nicest turnip, carrots, mange tout broccoli... More

I visited here during the week for lunch which was excellent with a choice from a 3 course menu, 3 courses for £16. The food was great, the service swift and friendly and no long waits between courses. Couldn't be faulted, so I then booked for Sunday lunch. £17.50 for 3 courses and it was just as good if not... Visited for lunch and delighted to find an excellent, well cooked, well presented menu. The bonus was a January special of £11.00 for two courses! Naturally the restaurant was full. Well done, will be back soon.

It's been a few years since I moved from Northumberland to Dubai, and being back for Christmas this year, I wanted to go visit a few of the old places... So we arranged a lunch with extended family at the Barrasford Arms to see how the place has been getting on, and I have to say - the food is... More

This is exactly what you want a pub to be; great views, set in beautiful countryside, with real fires, chatty locals and friendly staff and offering good food in various rooms of a converted stone house. There's very little to fault - the Sunday menu could have been slightly more extensive maybe, but the roasts and risotto were excellent as... More
