Description: Located in the village of Bridge, just outside Canterbury, The Red Lion is...
Located in the village of Bridge, just outside Canterbury, The Red Lion is a traditional British pub with a splash of French restaurant flair. Eye-catching from the outside, The Red Lion boasts a uniquely old fashioned exterior brought up-to-date with a lick of light coloured paint, while inside is comfortable and cosy, a traditional space with olde worlde charm in its rough beams and pillars the ideal village pub. But while the dcor might be traditional, The Red Lions menu is less so. With the influence of host Rene Renault (from Rennes no less), the kitchen has added French sophistication to locally sourced ingredients - including eggs from the owners own hens in modern creative dishes.

Lovely Pub - Great food.

We came here for lunch as a mid point on our walk. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. It was a lovely pub to stop off at during a rainy walk and got a table near the log burner to dry off. The garden looked lovely so will certainly be returning when the weather warms up!

I had lunch at The Red Lion, Bridge today and sampled the new chef's menu. I had scallops with pancetta and a pea purée, followed by pan fried red mullet on a bed of spinach with a lemon grass velouté, then salted cod on a bed of crushed new potatoes and for desert panacotta with fresh raspberries. I am delighted... More

We eat out regularly and try all sorts of pubs/restaurants throughout this part of Kent. We booked on the strength of the Dinner Set Menu displayed on their Web Site but on arrival we were unexpectedly presented with a completely different menu. When we queried why we were told this was their "New" menu from that day that they hadn't... More

I've been there many times last year, but the food was disappointing. I decided to try it again and never been happier! I had the pigeon breast as a starter, well presented and tasty and the venison is to die for!!! My wife had the fillet steak, perfectly cooked! I hope it stays like this because we would love to... We didn't eat here so can't comment on the food. However, we sat in the garden with our 2 children who were excited to see a play area. They went rushing off to play. Only then did we notice about 5 bigs piles of dog poo (from a large dog) around the garden. Of course both our children stood in... More

This is a pub that was on the up but now seems to have seen a little decline in food quality. Great hosts and service but the food sadly doesn't come up to scratch any more. We have tried a few times now and been slightly disappointed on each occasion in recent visits. Great location and nice seating options both... More

Having eaten here for lunch with my mum and found the food very nice and service good, I thought I would book the restaraunt for my sons 16th birhday. What a disappointment. We all had the sunday roast along with a starter. The onion soup was greasy, the garlic and cream mushrooms were tiny button mushrooms chopped up and swimming... More
