Located in the village of Bridge, just outside Canterbury, The Red Lion is a traditional British pub with a splash of French restaurant flair. Eye-catching from the outside, The Red Lion boasts a uniquely old fashioned exterior brought up-to-date with a lick of light coloured paint, while inside is comfortable and cosy, a traditional space with olde worlde charm in its rough beams and pillars the ideal village pub. But while the dcor might be traditional, The Red Lions menu is less so. With the influence of host Rene Renault (from Rennes no less), the kitchen has added French sophistication to locally sourced ingredients - including eggs from the owners own hens in modern creative dishes.

Great country pub food

The Red Lion pub is a friendly hub with a cosy club feel to it. The food is real good home cooking including the desserts. It's good value for money and the meal deals are particularly popular mid week. The charming owner, Rene makes you feel welcome and staff are polite and customer focused.

Had a birthday Sunday lunch with my daughter and her boyfriend. Both the roast and the Fish & Chips were lovely and well priced. the pub was clean and tidy and the staff were smart, friendly and polite. My daughter felt that her crumble might have been a bit 'overcooked' but mine was fine and overall the experience was great.... More

I am a regular here for drinks but very don't often have food. However I have just had an absolutely amazing Sunday lunch with my daughter. The owner Rene and bar manager paldeep were as always wonderful hosts and Sandra the chef....wow I won't need to eat for the rest of the week. It's was amazing.

Rene Renault runs an excellent village pub. We find the £10.00 two course lunch menus from Monday to Saturday and Tuesday evenings excellent value for money - good choice which is changed regularly so as to encourage the oldies in the village to come along. A warm welcome and friendly staff awaits you!!

All I can say is if you're looking for somewhere to have a little drink, relax and maybe a bite to eat, this place is without doubt the best! We received excellent service with a smile and exceptional food, we really couldn't have wished for more.

Called in on the off chance on a Friday night. We were greeted with a smile (not so common these days) and Blues music in the background. There was a good selection on the menu, the service was prompt and efficient and the staff friendly. There is plenty of parking around the back and a warm fire and friendly atmosphere... More

From the minute you walk through the door until leaving you are treated with the warmest hospitality and biggest smiles. Nothing is too much trouble for the bar staff, who are always friendly and helpful. I have eaten at the Red Lion on many occasions, and have never been disappointed. The food is delicious and good sized portions...and there is something... More

Highly recommend this country pub for its ambience and its cuisine. Owned by a frenchman, the quality of the food is surprising and favourably priced too. Two course lunch for £10. Exquisite liver pate' for starters. Smoked haddock fishcakes with chips for maincourse. My sister had the sticky toffee pudding for sweet. All well prepared and highly tasty. Enjoy!
