Located in the village of Bridge, just outside Canterbury, The Red Lion is a traditional British pub with a splash of French restaurant flair. Eye-catching from the outside, The Red Lion boasts a uniquely old fashioned exterior brought up-to-date with a lick of light coloured paint, while inside is comfortable and cosy, a traditional space with olde worlde charm in its rough beams and pillars the ideal village pub. But while the dcor might be traditional, The Red Lions menu is less so. With the influence of host Rene Renault (from Rennes no less), the kitchen has added French sophistication to locally sourced ingredients - including eggs from the owners own hens in modern creative dishes.

fantastic pub and restaurant

We here for dinner last night. Incredible food. They have a new chef and the a La Carte menu is excellent. Really good value. Service was brilliant. I can't fault a thing. Rene the landlord seems to have found a great balance between smart restaurant and relaxed country pub. Really worth a visit.

It is with regret that I give a poor rating to a previously enjoyable pub. With a group of walking friends visited the premises, we were unimpressed with the choice of menu, but the majority of the party opted for an en croute dish. This was served as a pie with an extremely watery soup, with little meat content. Not... More

Following our intent to try a new pub food place once a month, we had an evening out at the Red Lion on Tuesday and were quite impressed. The food was really good. We had a ballotine of chicken and the salted cod and also thought the price to be quite reasonable for what we had. The Adnams beer was... More

We have been using the Red Lion weekly for about two years, we very pleased to see the new offer 2 Courses for £12.50 last month, but this now seems to have been terminated, no explantion. The food is OK but very over priced when you look around at other places (we travel 7 miles to go to the Red... More

We have read carefully your review on your last experience at the Red Lion Inn, Bridge. We take care and pride in our business and listen to all our customer's comments. We have recently looking at improving our standard of cuisine and employed a New Head Chef to ensure we are still a hot favourite for all of regular clientele.... More

We came here for lunch as a mid point on our walk. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. It was a lovely pub to stop off at during a rainy walk and got a table near the log burner to dry off. The garden looked lovely so will certainly be returning when the weather warms up!

I had lunch at The Red Lion, Bridge today and sampled the new chef's menu. I had scallops with pancetta and a pea purée, followed by pan fried red mullet on a bed of spinach with a lemon grass velouté, then salted cod on a bed of crushed new potatoes and for desert panacotta with fresh raspberries. I am delighted... More

We eat out regularly and try all sorts of pubs/restaurants throughout this part of Kent. We booked on the strength of the Dinner Set Menu displayed on their Web Site but on arrival we were unexpectedly presented with a completely different menu. When we queried why we were told this was their "New" menu from that day that they hadn't... More

I've been there many times last year, but the food was disappointing. I decided to try it again and never been happier! I had the pigeon breast as a starter, well presented and tasty and the venison is to die for!!! My wife had the fillet steak, perfectly cooked! I hope it stays like this because we would love to...
