Excellent

Please revisit this pub. The new chef is amazing. A very young man with an excellent talent for producing outstanding food. Well done to him and the new team. We had an amazing meal last night and will be back very soon.

Having read some of the reviews below I questioned whether we should go or not, however, I heard it had changed hands and there was a new menu so would give it a go. The bar area was busy, not filled with children at all, and we were served promptly by a friendly and chatty barmaid - it seems that... More

Visited the hop pocket for there advertised 'American Food Evening'. The Hop was very busy, lovely atmosphere! Menu was great, not too busy but variety! Mozzarella cheese stick starter was lovely and nacho starter was huge, very tasty and filing. Mac and cheese and ribs with onion rings, chips etc were very tasty. Traditional American desserts were a lovely finish... More

A good menu for a pub-really liked the Lemon Posset for dessert. Found that the published opening times were incorrect-not open on Mondays-shame as we wanted to pay a return visit.

We have been eating here for many years, and have had about 5 or 6 meals under the new owners of 6 months. Each time we've eaten though, things have got slightly worse. The food quality was good at first, they were obviously trying hard to live up to their well deserved reputation, but the last meal I had, vegetable... More

Went for Sunday lunch. My husband had eaten here years ago & recalled it being of a high standard. Unfortunately the same cannot be said today. Although my roast lamb was cooked very well & the roast potatoes were also scrummy, the vegetables were over cooked & grated carrot was a rather odd accompaniment to the mix! But by far... More

We booked on Sunday morning after reading the previous reviews. From the outside the Hop Pocket doesn't look anything special but venture in and you will find some of the best food you ever tasted. Sunday roast, steak pudding and the deserts were superb, portions were more than required, service was excellent and overall cost was very reasonable. What more... More

We were in on Sunday afternoon with our kids and we felt really welcome. The children had fun running around in the garden and we enjoyed a lovely pint in front of the fire. Looking forward to our mother's day lunch.
