lovely homely feel

We were in on Sunday afternoon with our kids and we felt really welcome. The children had fun running around in the garden and we enjoyed a lovely pint in front of the fire. Looking forward to our mother's day lunch.

The previous tenants ran this pub successfully for 6 years, produce was sourced locally and quality was excellent with a good menu choice. The pub has had a makeover which is not easy in an old building. The drive to the rear car park needs some hole filling, this is nothing new though. On entry the pub was comfortably warm... More

Myself and my partner had Sunday lunch here and both the starters (pate and baked Camembert) and mains (roast pork and hop pocket burger) were delicious. In fact they were so good that it was surprising we were eating in a pub and not in a high class restaurant. We can be critical of the food at the best of... More

Went for first Sunday lunch since change of ownership and can report it was just as good! We all had roast beef, which was rolled sirloin served pink in the middle, which was just perfect and really tender and tasty. Lots of nice vegetables which were well cooked and, of course roasties and Yorkshire pud. Starters and puds also very good.... More

Lovely welcoming open fires, varied selection of wines, beers and ales, staff lovely. The menu is varied and always presented well, steak and ale pudding and fish and chips are a must. Children are welcomed and catered for exceptionally well. Sunday dinner is traditional and plentiful. Live music once a month is an excellent evening and always very busy. Well... More

Our 1st visit to The Hop Pocket in Bossingham. The staff we very friendly and service was delivered with a smile. We ordered food from the set lunch menu and it was delicious, loaded potato skins for starter, sausage & mash main too full for dessert! Food was served in a timely fashion and we weren't left waiting too long... More

I have now had two meals at my local pub in Bossingham and both very nice. The pub has been redecorated and is under new management and I think the food is now better than it was. The food is reasonably priced and delicious and I don't think anyone visiting would be disappointed. I can't speak for the beer, but... More

My first visit to this hostelry - a real country pub/restaurant with an excellent selection of draught beers, and a good wine list. There is a fixed price menu for two or three courses - very reasonably priced, and an a la carte menu also reasonably priced. The food was excellent beautifully cooked and presented. The manager, John Alderson, is... More

Wonderful country pub, nice and cosy. But for me the food just lacked some attention to detail. The starter of potato skins filled with cheese and bacon was ok. My steak was a let down though ! I asked for it to be cooked 'medium' but it was very rare,I don't mind a little blood but this was a bit too... More
