Beer festival and lunch

Nice traditional Kentish country pub, excellent beer festival and also a good place for lunch. In a lovely setting.

We came here to celebrate my nieces birthday. It was very busy, but friendly , very much what felt like a locals pub. The menu offered a range of Sunday Lunch options that were limited but varied enough for me to find something that tempted my taste buds. The whitebait was excellent, well cooked and tasty with a very good... More

dropped in for a light lunch - shared a good varied ploughman's lunch. Service good, small range of beers, menu ok for midweek, prices fairly standard for Kent. Good place to stop after a walk or drive in the area

This is a marvellous place to be in. The river flows nearby under the picturesque, wooden mill. This place is both well hidden and worth seeking out. I only fail to give 5 *s as their team pulled out of the local quiz league which I was organising at the time.

Good Country pub that thinks it is a restaurant ,no bread offered no water and very slow service I had to ask for our order to be taken.very nice skate wing cooked well, but served with salad and potatoes there should have been a selection of vegetables offered ,they need to revamp their tables, no one likes a table next to... This is our local village pub, well supported by drinkers and eaters. We tend to eat there when we have reason not to cook at home. Lunches are well cooked traditional pub fare with plenty of choice. The dinner menu has now gone gourmet and is therefore much more expensive and out of the ordinary - not always what you... More

We all decided to treat ourselves to a night and had not been to The Rose for food for sometime. It was the perfect place to catch up with friends -a nice relaxed and friendly atmosphere, good real ale and lovely food. There was a nice menu choice- I had the scallops and haddock but others said the pork belly,... More

This is a pretty pub in a gorgeous village with friendly locals. But that is where the plus points end. £11.50 for a roast I was expected something special I ordered the lamb and it was hard and inedible on the outside and raw in the middle. The portions were tiny, a SINGLE Yorkshire pudding, 3 pieces of roast potato,... More

Overlooking the village green, this pub is everything you could want from an English country pub. We have visited three times now, the first time was for a snack lunch, the second time for a more substantial lunch meal and this last time, for an evening meal. Although the menu wasn't ideal for my Caeliac husband, the waitress could not... More

My husband and I stopped here for lunch. His smoked haddock was adequate, but my wild mushroom and parmesan risotto was a disgrace. It arrived as a coagulated. dollop of rice in a bowl without garnish or even a scattering of herbs. Unfortunately it tasted no better than it looked. I told the waitress I was unhappy with the meal... More
