Great pub grub

On the outskirts of the famous Kent village the Woolpack is worth a visit. Although it's a Shepherds Neame pub it does offer a guest bitter. A nice friendly atmosphere with pleasant staff even if you just pop in for a coffee or stay for food and drinks. A good menue of well prepared food is... read more

Arrived at 7pm on a Saturday evening without booking but luckily only had a 10 minute wait for a table (I would advise booking). The menu was good and the specials menu was superb. I had the trout which was excellent and my partner had the beef wellington which he loved. We shared a sticky toffee pudding which was good.... More

I have been popping in to the bar for years but have never eaten here until last night. The Woolpack has always had a very good reputation and last nights meal proved this still to be the case. We were shown to the restaurant which was empty and had the pick of the tables choosing to sit in the window.... More

Arrived at the Woolpack on recommendation from another pub in the area. Good parking and found a seat instantly so that was a plus point. But, the lady taking my order seemed distracted, a 10 year old girl was sat at the bar (isnt it 14 years plus to sit at a bar?!) and as the food was a bit... More

Four of us came here for lunch today (7th March 2015). The Woolpack is located in the picture postcard, and much filmed village of Chilham, near Canterbury. Our reception was friendly and we liked the look of the menu and 'specials' board. Two of us opted for the steak and ale pie. The others chose a baked potato with a... More

For a old fashioned pub the B&B was fantastic, food was out of the world staff were friendly the atmosphere for a old pub was bright and cheerful compared to some old pubs I have been too that were dark and uninviting

We love old buildings for a start so if we are eating out this is what we will be looking for. an old building which will conjure up the right ambience. The Woolpack surely hit the spot ! We had passed it on occasion and thought it looked inviting. We were looking for somewhere to have a nice family meal... More

I guess this is just what happens in small country villages... Felt a bit like an episode of League of Gentleman at times with the locals staring and just that general feeling of being watched all the time... Anyway... We went through to the dining room to eat and were able to choose from the restaurant or bar menu. The... More

Great value for the two course lunch, lovely fire when its cold too. the food is local and homemade and filled us up. The beer was very fresh. Just one little thing is the lady behind the bar didn't seem very happy and we had to keep going to the bar to ask for things. maybe she was having an... More

Food was a game of two halves - great burger, but my mum's 'chicken' pie was actually beef. Pudding was billed as chocolate praline 'millefeuille'. Interesting take on millefeuille - actually a stack of biscuits with a few splodges of what tasted like Nutella. Service was decent, beer good, but sort your food out. Not a million miles from great,... More
