Friendly and welcoming

I love this place, the owners and the staff are friendly and welcoming, the food is excellent. The lunchtime 3 course menu is amazing value, the Sunday roasts are also excellent with a child size portion available. We have visited several times and never had a bad visit. We happened to be in the area and thought we'd stop for a quick drink here as we were driving past. Arrived at 3.30pm and had no plans to eat but looked at the displayed menu which looked very nice and reasonable value. Pub itself was lovely and the grounds looked amazing so we had every intention of returning for... More

Try the Pilgrims 3 course menu at lunch time, great value and excellent quality. Owner very knowledgable about wine so good wines (and by the glass). Service sometimes slow but always with a smile and a chat. Wonderful outside space for the summer

Great spot in the country with old world charm and an old world charmer running it.... Lovely food at a reasonable price with great service and a warm welcome. Highly recommended.

I have eaten here several times with my family and it never fails to deliver. Excellent quality food and brilliant service. I had a particularly memorable prawn starter, with no shortage of prawns which made a nice change to most places! On another visit I had the duck which was fantastic. The surroundings are lovely, in the summer sitting outside is... More

It is easy to forget your own local when asked for recommendations as Canterbury about 3 miles away has many restaurants but only about 2 in Canterbury come anywhere near this standard. The food is superb, the service unfailingly good, the landlord David, watches over everything and has wine knowledge of great value. But to top it all they still... More

We had an hour to grab some food before having to be somewhere else. This pub/restaurant was recommended by our B&B hosts at Homelea House, this in itself gave a discount on our meal. From the outside the Chapter Arms looks like a country pub worth stopping for, and once inside it is traditionally split into a bar area and... More

What an amazing pub this is! In Chartham Hatch down a small residential lane and there it is a lovely little pub. We had booked for lunch but were told by the landlord there was no need during the week but apparently evenings and weekends are very busy. The pub has a great atmosphere and the people are lovely (dogs... More

We went to Canterbury last week on a business/pleasure visit. We met up with some friends for a meal on the Tuesday at the Chapter arms and loved it. Although we were the only people eating that night the food and service was excellent. David the landlord put us into the cosy snug with the wood burner going rather than... More

My husband and I and my parents booked the Chapter Arms as we had never been there before and the reviews had all been good. Oh My Goodness what a great find. The pub itself is set in a lovely location and is beautiful inside and out, the atmosphere is warm and friendly. The landlord and landlady were so friendly, chatty... More
