After a shopping expedition in Canterbury City we decided to eat 'out of town'. We'd been here once before and wanted to get a 2nd opinion. We were not disappointed. Staff were friendly and welcoming, service excellent, and the food (cod & chips and burger & chips) were delicious. I loved the music too - loud enough to hear and... More

Thank you for posting your review. We regularly have customers looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle and visitors from London in particular love sitting in our gardens surrounded by orchards enjoying the peace and quiet. Sandwich isn't so far away so hope that we will see you again soon. More

Following a suggestion from the owner of the nearby B&B, we had a great meal at the Chapter Arms. The food was lovely and is on the sophisticated gastropub scale. The place is charming, the staff were super friendly and very accommodating to a family with a teenage girl and two boys, one of them a super tired and grumpy... More

The Chapter Arms at Chartham Hatch, near Canterbury is one of those gems you long to discover. Set in delightful east Kent countryside and overlooking acres of apple and pear orchards is old and rustic yet decorated in light colours which put a new slant on oak beams and wood panelling. The menu is extensive with something to suit all... More

Just back from enjoying a fabulous meal at the Chapter Arms. Hidden away, an oasis you could easily miss. I was completely taken by surprise at this lovely restaurant. Tastefully furnished without being ott as many of the gastro pubs and restaurants are these days. In a way regreshing that they haven't riped the heart out of the old place... More

Food couldn't be faulted. But the service leaves a little to be desired. With young children, does it really take 45mins to sort out ice-cream? And when questioned, to get told that you were 'busy' after watching 3 separate individuals folding napkins for 15+mins at various stretches....you're really taking the mickey!!!

We can only apologise again for the delay in serving your dessert. When one of your party pointed it out I sorted it out straight away. That aside we are glad that you enjoyed your meal and that you came back with your family last night. More

Firstly the good points, pub outlook, interior and the Whitbait starter very good. Secondly I asked if they could do 2 ploughman lunches. "no problem". Well they were undoubtedly the most pitiful examples of a ploughmans I've ever seen. Piece of the most tasteless cheese, 2 machine cut slices of bread, a lettuce leaf cut up with a little tomatoe... We are so sorry that you didn't enjoy your meal with us and do take any comments very seriously. We are also disappointed that you find the cheese tasteless as we use a local award winning Ashmore cheddar from Dargate, Beune Brie and a good quality Stilton. We do not list ploughman's on our menu and the chef put the... More
