Great food, staff need to concentrate on the customer rather than each other!

We have eaten here before, and thoroughly enjoyed the meals we have. This time the service wasn't as impressive as last year. There were lots of staff milling around, but not really interested in serving customers, just wanting to chat to each other. We had booked, as it does get busy. The food... read more

My family stopped at the old farmhouse for lunch. Honestly, it was the worst cooked lunch we have had in ages. The menu is quite limited, is not especially cheap and we had our doubts based on the restaurant part being nearly empty (we wish we had walked out at that point). I got a tasteless and overcooked burger, my... More

I can imagine this place getting very busy at high season but the location and venue is excellent. As well as the normal (tea room) fare they also offer a selection of Gluten Free foods. We had quick Service and the staff were very friendly even though it was getting quite full when we left. Have a seating area outside... More

We have visited Burley many times and used the Old Farmhouse Restaurant a few times. Quite busy that afternoon but soon shown a table pushed against a wall, yes we managed to get three people around it but looking at a dirty wall, well not the best of starts. We ordered afternoon cream tea, which was passable but the tea... More

Went for afternoon tea with my daughter and husband. Service was ok, although the staff could do better at welcoming customers. The food and drink was good, the scones were lovely and fresh. Unfortunately, I left feeling quite upset as i saw one of the waitresses making derogatory remarks about my very bright jumper. She could have waited until I... More

Saw this place and popped in for lunch on a Saturday. We had the roasted pepper and feta ciabatta and a portion of chips. The kids had tuna sandwiches. The ciabatta was amazing, full of flavour. To finish we had a cream tea which was also great. The staff were lovely as was the setting. My wife said it was... More

I was out with my friends for the day and as usual we stopped for tea. We were greeted by a polite waitress very kind. But had to wait a long time for out food. By the time it came we had almost finished the pot of tea. And as one of us is vegan the menu wasn't great (but... More

This visit (not our first by any means!) was a 3 generations invasion of the Tea Rooms. My wife and I, our daughter and spouse and our 3 grandsons, aged 10 to 2 1/2 descended on Burley, specfically for the wagon ride and an afternoon tea. For the 2nd of these, there really is only 1 place to go and... More

We have had coffee at this coffee every time we come to Burley. We have always sat outside with coffees, muffins and cumpets etc? Yes they do have wasps but it is in THE NEW FOREST for goodness. The person who mentioned the wasps etc and her dog, should have just got a takeaway coffee up the street and sat on... More

The cheese and ham sandwich was tasty - good quality ham - service a bit slow but nice enough staff.
