After completing an historical architectural survey of the New Forest village of Woodgreen we stopped by the horse and groom pub for lunch. The pub interior was traditional, not mucked around with by the London style police. The ale was excellent and the lunches were great! The unexpected "Croque Monsieur" on the menu was really light and tasty. Higher management... More

Booked a table for sunday 7 September. Arrived, greeted with a smile and shown to dingy table between loos and main restaurant, asked for better table & shown one in restaurant which only had one table occupied - lots of room. Looked at menu selected from it; no-one came, eventually my husband went to bar to order! Both of us... More

Saturday lunch was a brilliant success. This pub is under new management and I'm glad to say is a change for the better. The lunch menu is short and simple with a few specials on the board. This pub deserves to do well. You will not be disappointed.

We went to celebrate my mothers birthday. We were a party of five two children and three adults. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside. My children wanted to run around while we waited for our lunch. Unfortunately there were several piles of dog excrement. My mother told two different male members of staff and they did nothing... First impressions were very good, and the pub food was recommended by our hosts at Rose Cottage B&B. We made reservations for a Friday evening at 7, and arrived fifteen minutes early. The staff were all very pleasant and friendly, and the table we were offered was well situated. An hour later, though, we'd been back to the bar twice... More

my wife and I stopped here for a cappuccino on the way back to our b&b based in woodgreen. I ordered the cappuccinos at the bar whilst waiting I saw the dessert board and saw her favourite dessert Eton mess. I asked if I could order but as it was after 9 in the evening was told they might not... More

Popped in on Saturday and will definitely be back. My 2 young boys were very well looked after and the outside area was perfect for my 4 year old to go crazy in! The food had a wait but this was no problem at all because all the meals are made fresh to order - what would you rather have?... More

At last someone who cares about the food, the decor and making this pub a success. We're locals and yes, they are doing it a bit different but the quality of the food was excellent - we shared an early evening tapas of five dishes for under £20 - fried haggis with onion marmalade may not be typical of Spain... I arrived at this pub expecting the usual drab pub menu and frankly had already made my choice in my mind. Much to my surprise I'm happy to say the menu actually made me stumped as to what to have. Tapas....pork belly.... lamb shoulder...duck confit? ?? A welcome surprise. I opted for tapas to begin and confit of duck with... More

I visited here Monday lunchtime with some friends, we weren't overly hungry and went for some drinks. However, we were peckish so decided to order some tapas. I thought it was excellent and great value for money! Even though portion sizes aren't overly large, I think they are seen as a snack/ starter dish. I had the kebabs which were... More
