The warmth and character of the Brownlow Arms hits you from the moment you enter....roaring fire, comfy chairs, stylish decor, smiling faces and friendly staff. What more could you want on a cold March evening? Our guests had travelled from Australia and immediately fell in love with the quaint 'English-ness' of the establishment. Ryan, our waiter, was courteous, polite and... More

I booked dinner and an overnight stay in their accommodation to celebrate our 5th Wedding Anniversary. When booking (via telephone) I explained this reason for visit and having never been to the Brownlow Arms before I asked for a 'nice table' that had plenty of space around it as my husband is 6ft 5ins and struggles when sat close to... We visited the Brownlow Arms last weekend for lunch. Since we last visited, the restaurant and bar area have been redecorated and the result is cosy and welcoming, especially sitting in front of the open fire in a comfy armchair with a drink, while our table was ready. The set Sundy lunch menu contains an excellent choice and each course... More

Visited the Brownlow Arms recently for a special night out. It was everything we hoped it would be, pleasant welcoming staff, warm cosy setting and superb food. The menu choice was exceptional and the service excellent. We will be recommending it to all our friends and have already planned another visit to celebrate a up and coming family event.

We called for a drink on Saturday evening and decided to book for Sunday lunch. We arrived and were greeted very well, we sat with our drinks in front of the open fire looking through the menus. Meals ordered and then taken through to our tables, starters were great and presented well, I had the Prawns, my partner had Beetroot... More

Visited few days before Christmas. Yet again the service and food was superb. We were in a family party of five. As usual made to feel very welcome. All our courses were beautifully presented. Good quality ingredients from my steak to the risotto and a venison dish ordered by my husband. Service was prompt and very efficient. Excellent choice of... More

Decided to take my wife out for a special meal with it being her birthday. The Brownlow Arms has always been on our list of restaurants to try so this visit was overdue. The restaurant was spacious and nicely decorated. The menu was sublime with several nice dishes throughout to try. We were not disappointed and the meal certainly delivered.... More

I have dined at the Brownlow Arms before, some years ago and had a really good meal, this prompted me to book for my husbands birthday. Sadly this time was not quite so special. The bar area of the pub is way too small to house all the guests waiting for their tables, you feel like you are in the... More

This restaurant has as well nicely decorated rooms which give the atmosphere of something in between a typical English pub and a privately run B&B - you feel quickly welcome and at home. The menu is not large but serves something for everyone. I chose a vegetarian meal which was excellent, well prepared and tasty. My colleagues chose other meals... More

Although a predictably busy Sunday lunch was not perhaps the best time to form a balanced view, this place as good as I hoped. What was unexpected was the stylish environment - battleship grey painted paneled walls... luxurious upholstery..and comfortable chairs even at the table. Warmly welcomed by the proprietor despite a flow of arrivals at two in the afternoon,we were... More
