Not up to the usual standard this visit. The portions were smaller, however adequate. The stilton mushrooms were delicious. The catch of the day was haddock, the fish was very good, but the batter heavy and disappointing, also the beef dripping fried chips certainly didn't taste that way and were very mediocre. The service was excellent considering the pub was... More

Came here for an anniversary celebration and was greeted with great yet unobtrusive service. There is a good range of locally sourced food including game and fresh trout from Rutland Water. The food takes a while to come but the bar has a nice relaxed atmosphere and there is a good selection of wines and spirits. Would recommend the braised... More

Always a warm welcome, the dog dinners and treats behind the bar are an inspired idea. They also don't mind us turning up with a steam engine

General Rant:- Sometimes I long for a simple pie-and-a-pint pub - I’m really fed up with the whole ‘Gastro-Pub’ thing. I suppose it’s where the money is. I have no problem spending £12 - £17 on a main course in a proper restaurant, where one gets proper, attentive service and any problems are resolved in the appropriate manner. On this... More

It is hard to find any fault with this place - hence we keep returning despite having tried other options. The food is utterly fabulous, extremely generous and hard to beat. We have eaten here a number of times over the last 2 years and we have been served outstanding food, with a smile! We will continue to visit but... More

01/08/15 We spent a lovely sunny afternoon sipping a few beers at this pub whilst stopping at the WIng Hall Campsite (which is literally a 2 minute walk form rear car park). The beer was good and the staff were professional, polite and very helpful. Its always nice to find a 'dog friendly pub'- they looked after our dog by... More

W e wanted to stop for a late lunch on our way to Rutland Water, and we turned off the main road and found the King's Arms in the pretty village of Wing. It's a good looking comfortable pub, and despite it being just after 2pm when according to the menu outside they stop doing lunch, they were happy to... More

Simply one of the very best pub restaurants with accommodation my wife and I have visited in 40 years of travelling widely, in brilliant cycling and walking country near Rutland Water. Locally sourced food is perfectly cooked, the breakfasts were superb, and the prices reasonable. There are local real ales on tap from several local breweries including the Grainstore brewery...
