We only had half an hour to spend here one evening so did not have time to eat, but I enjoyed a fine pint of Okells MPA and a bag of crisps. The pub had a very pleasant atmosphere, with a mixture of locals and tourists. The sort of pub I would be happy to have in my village.

I have eaten and drunk at this hostelry several times over the last few years, and for such an iconic location, I always feel short changed. This place could be so much better if they tried a little bit harder. There's nothing especially wrong with it, but it just feels so "run of the mill". When I eat out, I... More

Visited as part of a large group on a Sunday lunch time.Pub was extremely quiet considering it was the Laxey 1960's day/weekend. There was 14 of us and we all ordered food and beer. Service was extremley slow as we had to order individually. Part of our food order (sandwiches and chips) arrived after a wait of over an hour... More

Not the best but not the worst, tried a couple of lunches here recently. We ate outside surrounded by smokers and the trams going by. An average meal for slightly above average prices but we enjoyed it and watching the trams, with a pint and reasonable food is a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours

What a charming little pub with a world class chef! A converted train car, this bar/restaurant is a local hang out. Chef Lorraine's specials are worth a trip. I've eaten here 3 times in 5 days and want to go back. Lorraine's Queenies a LA Orpheus are the perfect taste of the local delicacy. The sauce of wine, cream, garlic,... More

Called in on spec for an early dinner. Beautiful home-made tomato soup and Queenies in a Tuscan sauce with warmed ciabatta were spot on. Fourth visit to the island and it was about time I tried Queenies....I'm glad I waited. These were superb!

Popped in mid week for a quick lunch, opted for scampi and chips in basket at just short of 8 quid each, pleasant staff, service ok, portions were quite small but the chips were nice and the scampi - not a lot but good sized pieces. we had double portions for an extra 1.50 elsewhere later in the week.

Once again Lorraine, you have done me proud! I have been eating at the Mines for the last 10 years - over the past few I have developed an addiction to Lorraines Queenies in the Manx Sauce. I rang Lorraine just over a week ago, in preparation for my visit - and Lorraine didn't disappoint! There were plenty of Queenies... More

After a day out on the bikes exploring Man, we're all tired and needing some good hot food. Not keen on the standard pub grub (burger n chips, fish n chips, gammon n chips... get the picture?), we took a chance on the Mines Tavern. The pub's tradition - wood bar and furniture, good local beers, mindwarp carpet. It was... More
