Yes, it is is gratifying to know that, despite the motels and the fast food restaurants in France these days, it is still possible to find a decent provincial hotel with a charming restaurant. We had dinner and the menu at 26 Euros. The snails in pastry and a cream sauce and the oeufs en meurette were excellent Burgundian starters.... More

We stayed one night on a drive through North. Secure garage, friendly reception, and a superb dinner in pretty restaurant. Very reasonable prices, modern bedrooms and bathrooms located across the street at rear of building. Dinner was absolutely first class and good value. Breakfast was in a different dedicated dining room. Plenty on offer. Ideal for a drive through overnight... More

Since long ago I hadn’t been eating so well in France along a national road where there are so many tourist traps. The place is a bit oldfashioned but you get classical and kind service. But what you get in your plate is absolutely amazing : original and successful version of the local recipes, I mean “oeuf en meurette” (egg... More

We were looking for a place that serves Bresse Chicken and we were not dissapointed. Service was quite formal. Lots of locals were with us in the dining room. The Escargot were VERY garlicky, which I liked. My wife had a Foie Gras in Tomato Sauce that was killer. Yes, the chicken was excellent, especially when served with the Morel... More

To be frank, the experience, after all the positive reviews on tripadvisor and other sources was a bit disappointing. The reception was professional, a bit distant. The service was adequate. The atmosphere in the dining room a bit old fashioned. The various courses were solid, but nothing exceptional. As a starter we had foie gras, which was very solid, and... More

As avid Francophiles we have stayed at the Cheval Rouge on numerous occasions as it is one of our favourite hotels in the whole of France. The rooms in the annex are modern, clean and conmfortable and the restaurant is absolutely superb. The quality of welcome and service is second to none.

This restaurant was found by accident, normally the majority of Logis de France have good regional food, but this is exceptional with one of the very best meals that I have ever eaten in 20 years in France. Its family owned with the very friendly and helpful wife as a restaurant manager and her husband who is truly a extraordinary... More
