Description: The Fat Goose gives you a restaurant, bar and delicatessen all under one...
The Fat Goose gives you a restaurant, bar and delicatessen all under one roof! Situated in the rural village of Tendring we can offer a country escape just off the A120, about 15 minutes drive from Colchester, Harwich, or the Coastal towns of Finton and Clacton. Our AA rosette restaurant serves classic dishes with a modern twist from our 6 weekly changing menu to reflect the seasons and special boards which change frequently. Everything is prepared on site using fresh local produce. We pride ourselves in serving food of the highest standard in a relaxed and unpretentious style. The delicatessen is open seven days a week with a well stocked deli counter straight from the fat goose kitchen, fresh homemade cakes and the fat goose ready meals to take home. We also have a wide range of daily essentials and gifts available in the shop. We welcome well behaved children and offer baby changing facilities, highchairs and booster seats. The children's menu offers dishes prepared to the same high standards using totally natural ingredients. We have a garden and terrace for the warmer weather where you can dine alfresco and open fires for you to sit beside in the cooler months. We look forward to welcoming you to The Fat Goose at Tendring

I've eaten here previously - very nice food, the venison is particularly nice. Today they kindly helped out a cyclist in need! Nice place!

I have not visited the Fat Goose for a few weeks but did post a review last time I did. I have just received an abusive message through trip advisor from the chef at the restaurant which was clearly meant for another reviewer. Although the message did not relate to me it does clearly indicate an establishment that considers itself... More

I would like to personally apologise for the comments that were made by our Chef, He is very passionate, talented and cares deeply about the food he serves, however this time his comments have been misplaced, misjudged and misdirected. I would like to let you know that this matter is being dealt as the views expressed are not that of... More

Hadn't been for 2 years. Wasn't bowled over last time but this time they surpassed themselves. Awful. 'Chef' clearly has no idea how to cook or how to present food. Sent back a tiny overcooked or even frozen plaice, one of the specials. Beer battered haddock and three times cooked chips (what's wrong with once? ) was just 'ok'. Chips... More

this is a local pub, restaurant....small deli attached. We ate Sunday lunch as a family of six, four generations and everyone enjoyed the food. Good starters of smoked salmon, chicken liver pate, and a mixed selection of olives, cheese, anchovies etc. No complaints. Main courses varied from beef (excellent), lamb and chicken roasts, to dressed crab, and very well cooked... More

Beautifully renovated pub with great atmosphere and very pleasant beer garden. Food definitely the highlight. Kids were welcome outside on a sunny day but not exactly their target market and not much for them to be entertained by. I could have chosen 5 different dishes from the menu as it was diverse and all sounded delicious.

Visited a couple of weeks ago with friends . Lovely restaurant been many times before. Meal was good although not as good a previous meals at this restaurant. One note for the owners the Special board was above an already occupied table so felt a bit too self conscious to look at it as we would of had to stand... More

Stopped off for lunch today on way to Frinton. Pub is bright and airy and nicely decorated. Lunch menu usual sort of stuff but with an extra twist. Husband had cheese and ham soufflé to start and it was almost a meal in itself. I just had some complimentary fresh bread with garlic butter, which was a nice touch. Both... More
