Description: The Fat Goose gives you a restaurant, bar and delicatessen all under one...
The Fat Goose gives you a restaurant, bar and delicatessen all under one roof! Situated in the rural village of Tendring we can offer a country escape just off the A120, about 15 minutes drive from Colchester, Harwich, or the Coastal towns of Finton and Clacton. Our AA rosette restaurant serves classic dishes with a modern twist from our 6 weekly changing menu to reflect the seasons and special boards which change frequently. Everything is prepared on site using fresh local produce. We pride ourselves in serving food of the highest standard in a relaxed and unpretentious style. The delicatessen is open seven days a week with a well stocked deli counter straight from the fat goose kitchen, fresh homemade cakes and the fat goose ready meals to take home. We also have a wide range of daily essentials and gifts available in the shop. We welcome well behaved children and offer baby changing facilities, highchairs and booster seats. The children's menu offers dishes prepared to the same high standards using totally natural ingredients. We have a garden and terrace for the warmer weather where you can dine alfresco and open fires for you to sit beside in the cooler months. We look forward to welcoming you to The Fat Goose at Tendring

Occasional visitors to the area, delighted to have been recommended this restaurant - several evening meals (some happened to be mid-week so incredibly good value) also with friends - and lastly for Sunday lunch - do visit!

When the restaurant first opened I remembered having Smoked Haddock and Gruyere soufflé... This time I had Gruyere with ham.. Excellent... Other meals were top quality. The restaurant is smaller now since the inclusion of a deli. The atmosphere is very good and lighting perfect. I also like the range of different tables and chairs. I only have one complaint... We once again visited the "Fat Goose". It is a favourite restaurant of ours in the Tendring area as we have always found the staff very welcoming. The food is good complimented with pleasant surroundings. The "Fat Goose" is one of the best in the are where you can feel relaxed as a couple or with family & friends.

i have always been a huge fan of this restaurant but feel that it seems to be declining. Part of the restaurant has been taken to make room for a shop, there are no special boards and you just don't feel special anymore. Still a good place to eat but not as good as it was.

Family outing for Sunday lunch at the fat goose, with 4 generations involved, two of whom were vegetarian and one with a nut allergy. Contrary to previous reports the service was great - relaxed but attentive. The food was wonderful particularly the soufflé and salmon starters, and the sticky toffee pudding!
