i have always been a huge fan of this restaurant but feel that it seems to be declining. Part of the restaurant has been taken to make room for a shop, there are no special boards and you just don't feel special anymore. Still a good place to eat but not as good as it was.

Family outing for Sunday lunch at the fat goose, with 4 generations involved, two of whom were vegetarian and one with a nut allergy. Contrary to previous reports the service was great - relaxed but attentive. The food was wonderful particularly the soufflé and salmon starters, and the sticky toffee pudding!

Had been waiting to visit The Fat Goose for ages and was very much looking forward to it. The food itself I cannot fault, the menu is not vast but a good choice of dishes and everything on it is locally sourced, it was all really nice food. The atmosphere was great, the restaurant itself nice and spacious. The only... More

We managed to book a table at the last moment for Mothers Day lunch and boy were we pleased we did! The staff are very friendly and accommodating, the restaurant is light, airy and welcoming and the food is exceptional - lovely roast and the best cheesecake I've ever tasted! My Grandson, who is nearly 3, was made welcome with... More

Never again ! Very poor customer service. Please don't ask how the meal was if you don't care! After telling the waiter we didn't enjoy the meal, he simply cleared the plates without asking "Can I get you something else" or even "What was wrong" !!!! If that wasn't enough we went to the bar to pay the bill (Not... More

I had the pleasure of entertaining a group of visitors from Austria at the fat goose, a total of 9 of us in total. They were used to high standards and they were not disappointed. Great choice of freshly cooked food and good attentive service. Very pleased and we will use again.

Went out for lunch with a neighbour and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the welcome. We were told that the food, once ordered, would be about 20 minutes as cooked from fresh and sat in the bar area until called. We had booked and went quite early but the restaurant was nearly full by the end of our lunch. Just... More
