A well spent Saturday evening

I made a last minute booking, on what turned out to be a busy night. We were professionally greeted and were shown to our table. The décor is easy on the eye with space to enjoy the experience. Our group was myself (dad), my son plus girlfriend and a daughter that likes to eat 'what she fancies... read more

Visited here on Friday night, was quite busy. Haven't been since changed building into part deli/restaurant. The restaurant part looks really good and lay out of tables is good. Party of 4 and all us really enjoyed the food, I shared the seafood platter as a starter and with the warm complimentary bread was delicious. Plenty of different types without... More

Came for my wife's birthday meal. Great choice of good wines. Real Ale. Lovely selection of meals. I had the homemade scotch egg to start, best I have tasted for a long time. Main course was seabass. Perfectly cooked. Great veg and mash. Couldn't fault it. Will definitely return.

We returned to the Fat Goose after a short interlude to meet up with friends, and enjoy a leisurely lunch, with the variable menu that was on offer. However we were dissapointed that the menu appears downgraded to ordinary pub grub, presumably under a different Chef. Additionally there was a very large group of Ladies lunching and the cacophony was... More

My wife and I came here for Sunday lunch with both sets of parents. We'd booked early and were met by a very pleasant young lady who showed us to our table, well-located in an airy and spacious dining area. The décor is quite simple yet pleasing to the eye. The food was certainly good but I wouldn't call it... More

With the promise of some veggie food I went with my wife and friends on a Sunday. Despite booking, they took 15 minutes to get us menus. a further 15 minutes to take the order. The food took a further 20 minutes. We were not given any bread unlike the other tables. I had beetroot soup which was simply uneatable.... More

Can't find fault with any aspect of our meal last night - beautiful decor and relaxed friendly atmosphere, nothing was too much trouble for the waiting staff who appeared genuinely pleased to see us. The food was beautifully presented, perfectly cooked and tasted every bit as good as it looked. Am already looking forward to returning soon. Can't recommend highly... More

Called in at the Fat Goose while travelling home. The food was really good, the best pasta dish ever, easy to tell all the ingredients were very fresh. The pavlova for dessert was so good that even though very full, I had to finish every bit. The chap on the next table actually put his finger in the pot of... More

I've eaten here previously - very nice food, the venison is particularly nice. Today they kindly helped out a cyclist in need! Nice place!
