Tasty Margaritas

We went into El Bastion because it is one of the few air conditioned restaurants on the main square. The margaritas were very good. We enjoyed our meal but felt that for the price it could have been better.

We had dinner here and it was very good. The walls of the restaurant are covered with great black and white pictures of Campeche which puts you back in time. We had the cochinito pibil which was very tasty. The waiter was very nice and engaged in a talk when I asked him about the pictures. The fish dish Pan... More

My wife and I ate here on a Sunday night. It has a great location on the main square, is breezy and has air con, has very good service and the food is amazing. I had the Pavo Relleno Blanco and my wife had the Cochinito Pibil. Both were fantastic. While it isn't cheap, it is certainly worth the price.... More

This is a very good restaurant for lunch in Campeche, however I don't think it has the calibre of the Casa Vieja! Nonetheless, it is still excellent. I had a dish (can't remember the name) that consisted of shredded shark meat in an adobo sauce in layered soft tacos. Was really delicious. However some of the other members of our... More

The guide book recommended Pan de Cazon (kind of lasagna made of layered tortillas and shredded shark meat with a tomato sauce), which we reluctantly did. It was really tasty and presented with sliced avocado on the top - perfect! The botanas were Silik Pak (roasted pumpkin seed spread) served tortia chips and shredded pickled cabbage - just the right... More

They served botanas before my main course. Botanas are tapas. This one was dense corn meal with ham inside and a mild tomato sauce on top and shredded cabbage with mildly hot peppers marinated in lime and salt (both were salty but tasty). I ate all of what was served even though salt effects my body. Then I had more... More

We had high hopes for this restaurant and the appetizer was OK, if not fantastic, But things fell apart with the second course of coconut shrimp, a Campeche classic. Maybe I wouldn't like this dish wherever I had it but it was dismal here -- heavy breading that did not adhere to the shrimp, dry overcooked shellfish. Although mid evening... More

I ordered the chicken cordon bleu, (I had been in Mexico for almost 2 weeks, I wanted something different). The waiter was excellent and offered insight into dishes we had questions about. The place is air conditioned and had a nice atmosphere. The menu was extensive and the food was perfectly prepared and plated like a gourmet restaurant. Best part... More
