The Smugglers is easy to miss because it is situated on the narrow road looking over Newlyn harbour which makes it difficult to put up display boards, but we're glad we found it and would recommend it to others for sure. Newlyn harbour is always interesting, with plenty of boat movements happening and on the evening that we visited it... More

Easy booking. Service efficient and friendly from everyone. Good solid Mediterranean style cooking. We kept to fish dishes. All three courses very good. NZ Sauvignon not the best but Ok. Overall good value. Would definitely go again if we were in the area.

We stayed for two nights here and ate on one night - probably would have eaten on the second night but the restaurant was closed on the Sunday. Very friendly small place overlooking the fishing harbour and out towards the bay - the staff were great and the food was delicious. Mostly fish (no great surprise there) but a few... More

Beautifully cooked and presented. Great staff, very helpful with tips for seeing more in Penzance. Nice view of the boats in the harbour.

We visited The Smugglers after reading a foodie review in one of the Cornish Magazines/Papers left in our holiday cottage. We booked a table on the basis that the review read well, and sounded child friendly, with a good view of Newlyn Harbour. Unfortunately for us, the evening that we had booked the weather was dreadful, stormy with heavy rain.... More

Went to the smugglers with my wife for an end of holiday meal. Thought the place was delightful, the art work hanging in the restaurant area was vibrant and full of life, the service was first class and the food fantastic. The Blackened Cod with Chilli potatoes was outstanding could eat it all day! A great way to finish our... More

Until shortly before I left, this restaurant was right on course for a four, possibly five star review. The food was great - duck pate, fresh fish. Local produce, presented well, and with some interesting flavours - the blackened cod, which was surprisingly spicy, for example. Front of house was extremely welcoming and chatty, placing me in a seat by... More

My husband and I have owned and operated The Smugglers for 11 years, during this time we have worked hard to build a well run and successful business with excellent customer service at the forefront, so on discovering this review we were hard pressed to recognize the business described. We have to strongly refute the allegations that inappropriate language was... More

Visited last week for a 50th birthday meal, this restuarant is a fish lovers paradise! If you are not keen on fish then choices are limited. The fish is excellent however and I would say it is on a par if not better then Rick Stein's restuarant in Padstow!

Food was delicious and you really get a lot for your money. A fish lovers paradise with a number of choices on both the starters and mains, all caught fresh from the Newlyn fishing boats! The service was excellent, the hostess was very friendly and welcoming. Seats at the window provide a glorious view of the fishing boats in the... More
