Reasonable offering

This place is convenient as it's half way between Sherborne and Dorchester (roughly!) so is a good place to meet. It's a fairly traditional pub and has quite an inviting atmosphere. The menu is a bit limited but the food has always been of decent quality and not excessively expensive. I will be... read more

Met with family here after Christmas. Three of us had carvery, one had veggie lasagna. We all enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere. Also dog-friendly which was important for us. Would def go again.

Not been to the Hunters Moon, before and we were pleasantly surprised. Very warm welcome, cosy and Christmassy. Lots of little cosy corners, with lots of festive trimmings. The food was excellent and staff friendly and attentive. Would definitely go there again.

I popped in recently for a quick meal and couldn't complain at all. It's no frills pub dining but the staff are friendly, the food is hearty and good value for money and I'd definitely go back again. The meal was brought out quick and it was very tasty. It's probably not somewhere I would chose for an intimate date... More

This is the fourth year of our extended family staying in (taking over!) this brilliant pub for a family birthday. Dean and his team couldn't do more to make you more welcome. With consistently high quality and delicious home-cooked food; spotless and well-stocked rooms; and the friendliest and most knowledgeable staff, this welcoming pub and accommodation is a must for... We stayed in Middlemarsh with our family ( 14 adults and 7 children ) and the Hunters Moon was our local pub. We ate there twice and then booked for the entire family . In view of the size of our party we preordered our main courses . The landlord and staff were all very friendly and helpful and the... More

Two meals ordered were chicken curry which can only be described as average. The other meal was a beef, ale and mushroom pie, mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. The pie was delicious but in my opinion would have been better served with peas and baby carrots instead of the roasted vegetables. Staff were very helpful and eager to please.

Our feelings about this venue are indeed mixed. The pub itself is very nice with a welcoming landlord. The location is great for passing trade, and the drinks are reasonably priced. There is an ample car park and the outside seating is a good feature. Our feeling was that the other patrons of the pub feel that this is a... More
