Worth a 50 mile round trip

We travel 25 miles just to come to this pub for their carvery. The last time I came was remembrance day. Hadn't booked. Squeezed 5 of us in. It's always worth the travel. My first choice for Sunday carvery over anywhere that's local to us. I always recommend the carvery to friends who are prepared... read more

This is one of our favourite pubs and have visited it many times. We can thoroughly recommend the pie of the day, have had numerous different flavour pies and never disappointed. Friendly, chatty landlord & always a warm welcome. Good well kept real ales and nice warm open fire.

Had lunch with two friends. Busy for a Tuesday which shows what a good reputation this place has. Service was friendly and lovely atmosphere with beautiful log fire. Enjoyed our food and liked the fact that the landlord asked our opinion on future menu. Will pass other pubs in the area to visit this one.

Came here today for a birthday meal, wonderful service and such a nice atmosphere. typical old pub with a lovely old fireplace, just what a pub should be! Carvery was great, beef wasnt overdone and the white wine was delicious! Our waitress was so lovely, we all really enjoyed it, thank you!!!! Will definitely be returning!

Found hunters moon in the 2014 good pub guide and it certainly lived up to expectation. Food was amazing, can recommend the home made steak pie, we had small portion which was still plenty (don't think I'd have got through a large). The staff were really friendly and dogs are allowed which is great. 100% recommend this pub.

We visted here for Subday Lunch and had the carvery which was very popular. We had been here before and had great meals lunch times midweek and love the menu choices. The Carvery on a Sunday is great quality and quantity. The Hunters moon is a free house with selection of real ales as well. Its table service on Sunday... More

We popped in here on a Friday evening and both had the carvery. The food was lovely however our only complaint was that the beef was rare and there was no choice to have the beef well done. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

we visited this pub while staying in the nearby village of longburton. I had fish & chips, the coleslaw and tartar sauce tasted homemade and were very nice. my husband had the faggots and he said they were very good. but I think the treacle tart was from a supermarket which was disappointing. the service was good and the staff...
