A fabulous Sunday lunch

This was my first experience of the venue and I was not disappointed. Meal orders were taken whilst we enjoyed drinks on the terrace and we were shown to our table within a reasonable time (venue was very quiet, with few other customers). Menu included lighter bites as well as main meals so there was, usefully, a price range to... More

The establishment has been under new ownership for about six months. The owners and their chef have continued the same high standards and settled in. I have renewed my acquaintance after an absence of about five years. Décor has been upgraded, the old leather sofas have been replaced by chairs but there is still a cosy informal seating area by... Having been born and raised in Abergavenny both of us thought we knew every decent eating place within an easy drive. This is simply wonderful. Great atmosphere, great service , great prices and great food! In Karen, the front icehouse today they have a star turn. Efficient, professional and a real asset to the business. We shall return next visit... More

Ate dinner here twice last week and it was superb. It has recently been refurbished by the new owners and it has been done very well. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and our drinks order taken. We were invited to take a seat and our drinks were brought over to us along with the menu. Whilst the menu is... More

Went for a Sunday lunch to celebrate a family birthday - 15 of us in all. Did not know before booking that it had recently changed hands. We had been a number of times under the previous ownership and it had been consistently excellent. The new owners were still finding their feet a little when we visited. However, all was... More

I took my father here today for a meal. I was a little apprehensive as my dad has dementia so I rang before hand. The front of house lady was superb and so accommodating, I even brought in my dog for a lie down. Now my father is a hard man to please and today was the first time in... More

An expensive meal given that the food was only average. The service was good if a little slow given that the restaurant was quiet. Maybe I made a bad choice but my starter and main course appeared to have the same basic sauce, not what I expected when I ordered nor at that price.

William and Judith Brown took over the Raglan Arms in February 2015 with their award winning chef Matthew Long. We dined there in June 2015. We loved it and will certainly be returning. The menu was small, very imaginative and superb rather than excellent! The portions were sensible and not 'nouveau cuisine sqibbles on a plate'!We were warmly received and... More

What a great find. Excellent food. Dog friendly. And a top quality Sunday lunch that was much enjoyed by us all. The 3 course lunch was £24 - and for those of us from Wilts this felt like excellent value. All in all - superb quality food. Unrushed in every way. Service was pretty good and friendly, too.
