Fantastic restaurant at Samal!

My girlfriend and I had a late lunch / early dinner at Bahay Kubo. I did not have high expectations since the restaurants we had visited at Samal was average but this place was so good that I will recommend it to everyone visiting Samal. We had great seafood for starter. First starter was (sorry if... read more

Samal island food is mostly local and grilled dishes. Bahay Kubo may be very Filipino in name, but the food it serves is continental European. Our large group ate here last December, and we were very happy and full with the food. Price is not that expensive - for a meal with appetizer, main, dessert, and drinks, average would be... More

We attended one evening to celebrate our son's coming of age. Proprietor Alphonse made it a night to remember with a superb array of dishes combining the best of European and Asia cuisine. The restaurant itself has a very relaxed feel within delightful gardens, with the option of an elevated dining area with sea views and gentle breezes. A good... More

Actually, i got information about this restaurant here in tripadvisor and other sites. I and my close friend would like to explore the Penaplata area including an idea of having a good lunch there. So we decided to try this restaurant. Fortunately, it is very accessible, few meters away from Central Warehouse. As we get inside, we were welcomed by... More

Okay, let's face it, Samal island is a beautiful place but it's not a place for foodies. For nice wine and good food it's usually necessary to take the ferry over to Davao. Fortunately, there is Alphonse and Jaqueline's Bahay Kubo, a hidden gem, that is a must for everyone visiting Samal island. This is not your average restaurant, though.... More

Even before our orders were served, we got delicious complementary. I always like their salad to start. No printed menu. Choices of pork, beef, fish or pasta. And I can assure you that whatever you chose, you will enjoy every bite of it :-) splendid dishes. Good choices of red & white wine. Love their dessert called 'hot love' and... More
