Description: African tribal artefacts and other ethnic memorabilia add a touch of exoticism to this open-plan restaurant four miles south of Norwich. This Wildebeest is a thoroughly modern animal, with its elegant style, polished floors, blazing fire and raft of contemporary Dishes. The regularly changing, seasonal and local sourced menu includes dishes like: Chilled Verrine of Cromer Crab, Lobster Bisque, Samphire and Pea Volute to start and to follow Rump of English Lamb with Creamed Potatoes, Spinach, Sauteed Garlic, Trompete de la Mort, Peas and a Red Wine Reduction and for the sweet tooth Vanilla Pannacotta with Crisp Shortbread, Norfolk Strawberries and Strawberry Ice Cream. All this is complemented by an impressive wine list with wines from all over the world, a good selection of Beers and very efficient service.

We've been meaning to come here for ages - we've been missing out but now we'll be back! We all had really well cooked, well presented, tasty food. A great chicken chaseur (beautiful sauce), creamy risotto, cod, panacotta and berry crumble were some of the lovely courses we ate. The service was very good and the atmosphere relaxed. Definitely a... More

A group of 25ish of us went to the Wildebeest last Saturday night for a Christmas meal. The food was lovely and quickly delivered (without being rushed). The waiting staff were very attentive. Highly recommended.

We've been to the Wildebeest a good few times over a number of years, and recently we feel it is definitely on the up. Went on a quiet evening - and we know it's noisy when it's busy - with very good service and excellent food. Started with scallops from the specials board - three very large and beautifully tender,... More

Visited on a quiet Tuesday evening in December. We received a warm welcome. Service was prompt and friendly and food was put in front of the person who ordered it without having to ask who ordered what. Not the cheapest venue but a set meal is available on weekdays. The menu is varied and imaginative. The vegetarian sharing board was... More

I visited with a friend one Saturday, to sample the set lunch menu and was so impressed I returned the following Saturday with Mum and the family, to celebrate a special birthday. The first week, we shared a starter (exquisite chilli beef) and a pudding (fabulous crumble, with an almost-sour, baked-apple underlay, sweetened with red berries and a crème anglaise)... More

Not having eaten here for some years I was keen to find out what it was like, based on the recommendation of friends who are great fans. There was a time when The Wildebeest was one of the few such venues a few miles out of Norwich but must have been challenged by the resurgence of the nearby Stoke Mill.... More

Absolutely wonderful - good ambiance, stunning food, attentive staff. Not cheap but you get what you pay for, and the presentation is exceptional. Even better that my brother paid the bill for a birthday surprise!

This was a really lovely experience where everything comes together to make a special night out. Food was really lovely, atmosphere was warm and comfortable, service was really good and the staff were very friendly and offered good service. I had the ribeye steak with blue cheese sauce which was really delicious. I wasn't sure about having the cheese sauce... More

We called in to the Wildebeest Arms as we were passing to grab some lunch and had no idea what a treat we were in for. Our starters were imaginative and tasted as good as they looked, we then had the fish of the day which was plaice, it was the nicest piece of fish I've eaten in a long... More
